Let me rephrase what I said:

Unless you can explain how a mob I'd safely walked through a
dozen times *in the previous 15 minutes* while invisible could
suddenly see me, I will go with the invisibility blinking off
as the explanation. :-)

It *does* blink off folks. I know you've all seen it happen
while resting (though thankfully it seems to have become rarer
as my wind skill is now up around 165). I don't understand
why people are so skeptical of the possibility of it blinking
off while in a mob's aggro radius.
