Well,

since the price of derv rings has bottomed out...

Over in South Ro, to the right after you enter from Oasis, there is an
Erudite merchant, who has a named orc, Ortalius (?).
For every three derv rings you give him, he gives you xp, some cash
(silver/copper) and sometimes a random item (usually a rusty weapon, but
i've gotten bronze weapons, cloth and leather armour, also.
Use your charismatic carrilion on him, to get better stuff/more money.
Also, it doesn't seem to matter how many rings, up to three you give him,
when you give him a total of 3, he will reward you. As long as you don't
log, he seems to keep a running total for you. I gave him 5 the other day,
got one reward. A few hours later, i dropped back by, with a single, just
to see what would happen. He gave me the reward upon receipt of the ring.
