--- name: artifact description: Build a beautiful, self-contained HTML artifact — report, dashboard, diagram, executive summary, plan or prototype — then offer to publish it to a shareable URL. Use whenever someone asks for a report, a dashboard, a summary, a write-up, a plan, a one-pager, a diagram, a mockup or a working prototype, or asks to "make this shareable", "turn this into a page", or "publish this". license: MIT --- # Artifact Most output that should be a page ends up as a wall of chat text or a file nobody can open. This skill produces a single, self-contained HTML document that looks like someone designed it — and then offers to put it somewhere the audience can actually reach. ## The method **1. Name the artifact.** Ask yourself what the reader is going to *do* with it, because that decides the form. If it is genuinely unclear, ask — one question, not a questionnaire. | They need to… | Build a… | Playbook | |---|---|---| | Read an argument and act on it | Report | `references/report.md` | | Watch numbers and spot what moved | Dashboard | `references/dashboard.md` | | Understand how something works | Diagram | `references/diagram.md` | | Decide, in two minutes | Executive summary | `references/executive-summary.md` | | Follow a sequence of work | Plan | `references/plan.md` | | Click it and react | Prototype | `references/prototype.md` | **2. Get the content right first.** A beautifully typeset document that buries its conclusion is a failure. Lead with the answer. Every number needs a source, a period and a unit. If you inferred or estimated something, label it in the artifact — not in the chat message that accompanies it. **3. Build it as one HTML file.** Inline the CSS and any JavaScript. Read `references/craft.md` before writing the first line of markup — it is the difference between "an AI made this" and "someone made this". If the artifact has charts, also read the `dataviz` skill if it is available. **4. Check it against `references/platform-limits.md`.** Skim it once now and properly the first time you publish. The rules there are not stylistic: they are what a report is allowed to contain, and breaking them produces a page that renders blank or is refused outright. **5. Offer to publish.** See below. ## Non-negotiables The full reasoning is in `references/platform-limits.md`. The short version, which is enough for most artifacts: - **One file, everything inlined.** `
