Night PDF is a local PDF reader application. Its core features (opening PDFs, rendering PDFs, recent files, thumbnails, and theme preferences) are designed to work **on your device**.

By using Night PDF, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

## 1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies only to the **Night PDF app**.

If this Privacy Policy is hosted on GitHub, note that **GitHub may collect data about your visit to the GitHub website** under GitHub’s own privacy practices. That is separate from the Night PDF app.

## 2. What Night PDF Collects

### Personal Data
Night PDF **does not collect personal data** from you.

Night PDF does not require:
- Account creation
- Login
- Email address
- Phone number

### Usage Data / Analytics
Night PDF **does not collect analytics or usage tracking data**.

The app does not send your reading activity, opened documents, page progress, or theme choices to any server controlled by the developer.

### Crash Reports
Night PDF **does not automatically send crash reports** to the developer.

If you choose to contact the developer and manually share logs, screenshots, or error details, that information is shared voluntarily by you.

## 3. Data Stored on Your Device (Local Only)

To provide its features, Night PDF stores certain information **locally on your device**. This may include:

- Imported PDF files (copies of PDFs you choose to open, stored in app-local storage)
- Recent file entries
- File display names
- Last opened timestamp
- Last read page / reading progress
- Total page count
- Thumbnail preview images generated from your PDFs
- Theme and UI preferences (for example, selected reading theme)

This information is stored locally to support app functionality and is **not uploaded** to the developer.

## 4. Permissions and Access

Night PDF may request access only to the files you choose to open, depending on platform behavior (Android, iOS, macOS, etc.).

Night PDF uses file access for:
- Opening a PDF you selected
- Importing/storing a local copy for reliable reopening
- Rendering thumbnails and previews
- Remembering your reading progress

Night PDF does **not** request or use:
- Location access
- Camera access
- Microphone access
- Contacts access
- Advertising ID access

You can deny or revoke file-related permissions in your device settings, but some app features may stop working (for example, opening PDFs).

## 5. Network Access and Data Sharing

Night PDF is designed to function without sending your data to external servers.

### No Data Sharing
The developer does **not** sell, rent, or share your personal information because Night PDF does not collect it in the first place.

### No Ads / No Tracking
Night PDF does **not** use:
- Advertising SDKs
- Analytics SDKs
- Cross-app tracking

### Third-Party Libraries
Night PDF uses open-source and platform libraries to provide local functionality (such as file picking, PDF rendering, and local storage). These are used for on-device features, not for data collection on behalf of the developer.

## 6. Links Inside PDFs and Third-Party Sites

PDF documents may contain links (for example, citations, references, or website URLs).

If you choose to open a link from a PDF (if supported by the app/platform), you may be directed to a third-party website or service. Those third-party sites have their own privacy policies and practices.

The developer of Night PDF does not control and is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites.

## 7. Data Retention and Your Control

Because Night PDF stores data locally on your device, you control that data.

You can remove data by:
- Deleting recent entries in the app
- Removing PDFs from app storage (if supported by your platform/workflow)
- Clearing app data via your device settings
- Uninstalling the app

Uninstalling the app will generally remove app-local data, subject to your platform’s behavior.

## 8. Children’s Privacy

Night PDF is a general-purpose PDF reader and is not directed specifically to children.

Night PDF does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

## 9. Security

Night PDF stores app data locally on your device and does not transmit your documents to the developer.

However, no method of local storage or device security can be guaranteed as completely secure. You are responsible for securing your device (for example, passcode, encryption, and OS updates).

## 10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated as the app evolves.

Any updates will be reflected in this document with a revised **Last Updated** date. Continued use of Night PDF after changes means you accept the updated policy.
