# Benchmarks for JSON utils libraries

## Summary

For small and medium JSON payloads, native `JSON.parse()` and `JSON.stringify()` are usually the fastest option.

`json-ext` is designed for large payloads where native JSON APIs become impractical due to peak memory usage, long blocking operations, or V8 string size limits.

In these benchmarks:

- `JSON.parse()` fails on a 1GB fixture due to V8 string size limits, while `parseChunked()` completes in ~3.9s.
- `JSON.stringify()` fails on a 1GB fixture, while `stringifyChunked()` completes in ~4.1s.
- On a 500MB fixture, `parseChunked()` reduces peak RSS from ~2.4GB to ~0.9GB.
- On a 500MB fixture, `stringifyChunked()` reduces peak RSS from ~2.0GB to ~0.24GB.
- `stringifyInfo()` estimates a 1GB JSON result in ~3s without generating the output string.
