### Bug Fixes

- SVG shape annotations (ink, polygon, polyline, line, square, circle) no longer treat the entire `<svg>` overlay as a hit target. Previously `createSvgOverlay()` set `pointer-events: painted` inline on the `<svg>` root, but on an `<svg>` container element that value falls back to whole-box hit-testing in practice — `annotation:hover` fired on every pointer move across the page, not just over the painted shape, and host apps had to ship an `!important` CSS shim to fix it. Hit-testing has moved to the package stylesheet: the `<svg>` root is now `pointer-events: none` and painted children are `pointer-events: visiblePainted`. Host apps can override either with a normal selector, no `!important` required

- New `customPageOverlay` option on `createViewer()` for rendering host UI (comment buttons, side toolbars, badges, signature placeholders, etc.) on top of every page. The renderer is invoked once per page slot with `(pageIndex, container, scale)` and may return a cleanup function that runs when the slot is destroyed. The overlay layer sits above the canvas, text, annotation, and search-highlight layers (class `udoc-spread__custom-page-overlay-layer`, `z-index: 3`), is sized and rotated to match the page, and is `pointer-events: none` by default so host elements opt into input without blocking text selection or annotation clicks underneath. New `CustomPageOverlayRenderer` type exported from the package root

### Bug Fixes

- SVG shape annotations (ink, polygon, polyline, line, square, circle) no longer require a `pointer-events` CSS override in host applications for `annotation:hover` / `annotation:click` to fire on painted geometry. Each shape overlay now sets `pointer-events: painted` directly on the `<svg>` root, so painted strokes/fills are hit-testable out of the box while empty SVG space stays transparent to PDF text underneath. Previously the `<svg>` root carried `pointer-events: none` inline and relied on a CSS descendant rule to re-enable hits, which leaked through to consumers whose app-level CSS or style isolation prevented that rule from applying — those consumers had to carry their own copy of the override to get shape events at all

- `annotation:hover` and `annotation:click` payloads now include `clientX` / `clientY` — the pointer's browser-viewport coordinates at the moment of the event. Rotation- and zoom-invariant, suitable for placing a tooltip (hover) or anchoring a context menu / popover (click) directly in screen space without a separate `mousemove` listener or inverse-rotate math

### Bug Fixes

- Draw and select tools now apply the inverse effective rotation to pointer coordinates on pages with `/Rotate != 0`, so a horizontal drag stays horizontal after the stroke commits. Previously client-space coordinates were treated as already in unrotated MediaBox space; the canonical render layer then CSS-rotated the stored bounds a second time, turning a horizontal drag into a vertical stroke at drag end. The mid-drag preview now also lives inside the rotated annotation layer so the preview and the committed annotation share the same coordinate space. Annotation `bounds` (and the `addPageAnnotation`, `updatePageAnnotation`, `getPageAnnotations` entry points) are now documented as unrotated MediaBox coordinates so SDK consumers know not to pre-rotate
- `annotation:hover` and `annotation:click` now fire on SVG shape annotations (ink, polygon, polyline, line, square, circle) in all tool modes, not just the select tool. Previously the SDK's `pointer-events: painted` rule was scoped to `.udoc-viewer--tool-select`, so consumers using the viewer in default mode never received hover/click events on painted shapes despite the documented "fires in any tool mode" contract. The annotation layer itself stays `pointer-events: none`, so PDF text under it remains selectable everywhere except over painted geometry; the `cursor: pointer` affordance stays scoped to the select tool
- Fuzzy search now folds typographic punctuation — curly quotes (`’ “ ”`) and en/em dashes (`– —`) — to their ASCII equivalents, so a query like `investigator's` matches `investigator’s` in the document. PDFs typically contain typographic forms that users can't easily type from their keyboards
- Fuzzy search now strips middle dot (`·`, U+00B7) as a leading list marker in addition to bullet (`•`, U+2022), so a query pasted with a list-item bullet like `· Patient assessment` matches the rest of the line

Active in all tool modes (including normal viewing), deduped to only fire when the hovered annotation actually changes, and emits `null` when the pointer leaves without entering another
