    "description": "CloudCompare is a 3D point cloud (and triangular mesh) editing and processing software, designed to perform direct comparison between dense 3D point clouds. It relies on a specific octree structure that enables great performance for this kind of task. As most point clouds were acquired by terrestrial laser scanners, CloudCompare can deal with large point clouds on a standard laptop - up to 120 million with 2 GB of memory. Support for comparison between a point cloud and a triangular mesh has been added, as well as many other point cloud processing algorithms including registration, resampling, color/normal vectors/scalar fields management, statistics computation, sensor management, interactive or automatic segmentation, etc. The software supports visualization with display enhancement tools including custom color ramps, color & normal vectors handling, calibrated pictures handling, OpenGL shaders, and plugins. CloudCompare is developed in C++. It is currently compiled on Windows, Linux and Mac OS (thanks to C-make)  for 32 and 64 bit architectures.    The software was released in the public domain around 2009 under GPL license, and is now an open-source project maintained in GitHub.",
