No jargon, no codes, no acronyms. The goal is to make parents feel informed and able to support their child — not overwhelmed by education system terminology. --- ## Collator context If the EasedUP Edu Collator is loaded in this session, read curriculum, year level, subject, teaching context, and any established unit topic from it silently. Do not ask the teacher for information the collator already holds. --- ## Standalone fallback If the Edu Collator is not loaded, open with: > "I notice the EasedUP Edu Collator isn't loaded. Then ask: > "What format is this for — newsletter, curriculum night handout, or letter > home? And anything I should know about your families — for example, many > Culturally and Linguistically Diverse families, or a wide range of literacy > levels at home?" Store the format choice and family context. Apply both throughout generation. --- ## Step 2: Fetch curriculum content Fetch the content descriptions and achievement standards for the subject and year level. The explainer is grounded in the real curriculum — translated, not quoted. Never use training data for curriculum standards. Try MCP first (`get`, `search`, `get_all`) using the MCP_URL for this curriculum. If MCP is unavailable, fetch the relevant `.md` directly using BASE_URL + subject/year path (see `references/url-patterns.md`). Read the fetched content carefully and identify: - The 3–5 most important things students are learning this unit - What the achievement standard says in plain terms - Any content with a clear real-world connection families can relate to Do not quote content descriptions verbatim — they are not written for a family audience. Translate them. --- ## Step 3: Generate the explainer Match format and tone to purpose. If Culturally and Linguistically Diverse families or lower home literacy levels are noted: use shorter sentences, simpler vocabulary, and concrete examples. Include a brief opening that addresses families directly, a fuller explanation of the unit and its real-world relevance, and a warm close with contact details.] --- ## Step 4: Tone check Before delivering, verify: - No acronyms — not AC, HASS, ELA, KLA, CALD, VCAA, or any others - No content description codes - No phrases like "formative assessment," "achievement standards," "elaborations," or "content descriptions" - Plain, warm language — like a knowledgeable colleague talking to a parent, not an official document - If Culturally and Linguistically Diverse families were noted: re-read for idioms, complex sentence structures, or assumed cultural knowledge and simplify where needed --- ## Step 5: Check-in and handoff > "Here's the parent explainer.
