The source code that implements them is governed by the MIT license; the *underlying ideas, interface arrangements, and combinations* are documented here for two reasons: (a) so honest downstream forks and reimplementations can credit prior art appropriately, and (b) to establish a documented priority claim — including specific UI creative points and first-use evidence — for any future trade-dress or look-and-feel dispute. We list creative points individually so it is clear which elements are claimed; the COMBINED TRADE DRESS NOTICE further below addresses how the combination of these elements is itself protectable. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A. USER-INTERFACE TRADE DRESS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The four entries below are claimed as the distinctive user-interface "look and feel" of EchoBird. Each entry lists (1) the originating concept and (2) specific UI creative points that define the pattern, plus (3) first-public-commit evidence for priority. 1. Mother Agent (internal codename) / 安装与修复 (user-facing UI name) Concept — An autonomous AI agent embedded as a first-class top-level surface inside a desktop application, whose ENTIRE PURPOSE is installing, repairing, and deploying OTHER agents and AI tools. Any AI agent can technically install software; what is original to EchoBird is packaging this capability as its own dedicated user- facing product surface rather than burying it inside a settings or "advanced" page. Specific UI creative points: - Independent top-level navigation entry (not nested under any tool's own settings) - Conversational installation flow (not a step-wizard, not a checkbox list, not a CLI prompt) - Local-execution and remote-execution targets unified under the same chat surface (one conversation, two back-end execution paths chosen contextually) - Persona-style framing of the deployment agent (avatar, name, dialog tone) rather than a faceless task runner First public commit: 2026-03-02 (src/pages/MotherAgent.tsx, 1410 lines at commit 546a14ae). 2. Model Nexus / 模型中心 — "Configure once, used everywhere" Concept — A central pool of model configurations (API key, base URL, model ID, protocol) presented as a navigable list, structurally positioned as the single data source that every other user-facing scenario draws from. Configuring a model once in this pool causes it to be available across Install & Repair, Local LLM, My AI Projects, and App Manager without any per-scenario re-entry of credentials. Specific UI creative points: - Two-column layout: main list of all model cards on the left; per-model detail/edit panel on the right - The model list is structurally a "pool" consumed by other scenarios — not a settings sub-page subordinate to any one tool - Right-edge inline "+" shortcut button for quick-add (not a toolbar-top button) - Inline one-click latency-test ("ping") before commit, embedded on each model card - Clicking a card opens the detail/edit view in the same right panel (no modal, no page navigation) First public commit: 2026-03-02 (initial model directory in docs/api/store/models.json and icon set at commit 546a14ae); dedicated "Model Nexus" naming: 2026-03-26 (commit 1ae49436); full page extraction at commit d80030aa (2026-03-29). 3. App Manager + My AI Projects (shared UI container) Concept — A unified card-grid + right-side-detail container that presents two distinct entity types — (a) official AI / Agent applications and games and (b) the user's own vibe-coded applications and games — through the same UI surface, so the user's own projects sit visually alongside official tools as first-class citizens. The right-side panel handles model selection and one-click "apply" for the selected entity, regardless of which type. Specific UI creative points: - Card-grid main area + right-side detail panel two-column layout - One card = one tool or one user project; all actions for that entity (launch / select model / apply / configure) collapse into the card-plus-right-panel pair - The same ToolCard component renders both official tools and user-defined Vibe-Coded projects (MyProjects.tsx imports and reuses the AppManager card) - Right panel "select model → one-click apply" linear flow (no submit button confusion, no separate save state) - Per-card "restore to official" affordance as the first row of the model list First public commits: AppManager — 2026-03-02 (src/pages/ AppManager.tsx, 674 lines at commit 546a14ae); MyProjects — 2026-05-20 (src/pages/MyProjects/ at commit 05a35d13). Critical: the *bundled reference applications* (Reversi + AI Translator) — which form the user-tutorial pattern detailed separately in TRADEMARKS.md §4 — were ALREADY PRESENT in the same initial commit 546a14ae on 2026-03-02. They were not introduced when MyProjects shipped on 2026-05-20; MyProjects merely re-positioned the already-existing reference apps from "internal built-in tools" to "user-editable templates". Both reference applications are intentionally model-bound — they cannot function without a model connection from EchoBird's central Model Nexus. The architectural intent to guide users in building their own *model-bound* AI applications and AI games (rather than generic vibe-coded apps that happen to be in this folder) was therefore present from day one of EchoBird's public release. 4. LocalServer / 一键本地大模型 — One-click local LLM deployment Concept — A desktop-embedded UI that compresses the otherwise terminal-heavy process of installing a Python environment, downloading a model weight, picking quantization, configuring a runtime, and exposing OpenAI-compatible + Anthropic-compatible endpoints into a single page with a START button. The point of originality is the pairing of multiple LLM runtimes side-by-side under one UI, with all the surrounding deployment friction hidden. Specific UI creative points: - Three runtime engines presented as parallel options under one picker (vLLM / SGLang / llama.cpp) — not a single-engine app with the others as plugins - GPU detection surfaced as a UI element (not a hidden auto-config), with the detected backend visible to the user - Runtime-aware parameter adaptation: switching engine auto-locks "GPU Full / GPU Auto" compute selection to the engine's constraints (vLLM / SGLang lock to GPU; llama.cpp keeps the full GPU/CPU spectrum) - A single "START" button that simultaneously brings up the OpenAI-compatible endpoint AND the Anthropic-compatible endpoint from the same model weight - Quantization picker integrated with model download flow on the same page (no separate "downloads" tab) First public commit: 2026-03-02 (src/pages/LocalServer.tsx, 1102 lines at commit 546a14ae). ================================================================================ COMBINED TRADE DRESS NOTICE ================================================================================ The four UI/UX designs listed in Section A are individually identifiable and individually claimed; they also constitute, in combination, the distinctive "look and feel" — the trade dress — of EchoBird as a product. A re-implementation that adopts THREE OR MORE of the four UI patterns listed in Section A side-by-side in a single competing product — **on any platform** (desktop, web, mobile, or future platforms; trade dress under U.S. and comparable jurisdictions protects the distinctive look-and-feel of a product, not the medium it runs on, per Apple v. Samsung among others) — is presumed to derive from EchoBird's trade dress unless the implementer can produce independently-documented prior work proving otherwise. Adoption of a single pattern in isolation is not, by itself, treated as infringement: individual elements are common across the industry, but the SPECIFIC COMBINATION is original to EchoBird as published 2026-03-02 onward. This notice does not waive any other available legal protection. Codex Translator with Spec-Pure Passthrough A Responses ↔ Chat Completions translator (and Anthropic Messages equivalent) that deliberately forwards only OpenAI-spec-canonical fields and refuses per-vendor shimming for upstream non-compliance. The refusal to shim is treated as a feature, not a limitation — it keeps the natural feedback chain to vendors intact and avoids accumulating tech debt from speculative compatibility layers.
