Process each one sequentially. ## How to Resolve the Identifier Your first job is to turn whatever the user gave you into an Apollo Account ID: 1. **If it looks like an Apollo ID** (24-character hex string): call `view_account` directly. 2. **If it's an Apollo Organization URL** (contains `/organizations/`): extract the 24-character hex ID from the URL path. This is an **organization ID**, NOT an account ID. Call `get_organization` to get the company name and domain, then call `search_accounts(q_organization_name: "")` to find the corresponding Account. If no Account exists, tell the user the organization exists in Apollo's database but hasn't been added as an Account yet, and stop. 3. **If it's a company name**: call `search_accounts(q_organization_name: "")`. If multiple results come back, pick the best match or ask the user to clarify. 4. **If it's a domain**: call `search_accounts(q_organization_name: "")`. If that doesn't work, try the domain without TLD as a name search. 5. **If it's a LinkedIn URL**: extract the company name from the URL slug and search Apollo by name. If you can't find the account in Apollo: - If you have organization data (from a URL or `get_organization`), still run the **Industry Pre-Check (Gate 0)** using the organization's metadata. If it fails Gate 0, report the disqualification. If it passes Gate 0, tell the user the organization looks like a fit for B2B SaaS but needs to be added as an Account first before full research can be run. - If you have no data at all, tell the user the company wasn't found and stop. - Never create accounts automatically. ## Important: Account ID vs Organization ID This is a critical distinction that causes silent failures if you get it wrong: - The **Account ID** (what the user gives you or what you find via search) is used for `view_account` and `update_account`. - The `view_account` response contains an **`organization_id`** field — this is a DIFFERENT ID. - You MUST use `organization_id` (not Account ID) when calling `organization_job_postings`. - Using the wrong ID returns zero results silently, which means you'd miss the SDR job posting signal entirely. ## Pre-Qualification: Industry Check (Gate 0) Before running any research, check if the company belongs to the B2B SaaS/tech domain. This is a fast disqualification gate — if the company fails here, skip ALL research steps entirely. After resolving the identifier and calling `view_account`, examine the account's `industry`, `industries`, `keywords`, and `short_description` fields. The company PASSES this gate if it operates in B2B software, technology, SaaS, cybersecurity, cloud, data, AI/ML, developer tools, or similar tech domains. The company FAILS this gate (immediate disqualification, no research needed) if it is clearly outside B2B tech, for example: - Newspapers, media, or publishing - Non-profit organizations or fundraisers - Government agencies - Restaurants, retail, or hospitality - Real estate (unless proptech SaaS) - Consulting/advisory firms with no software product - Venture capital / private equity / investment firms (they fund tech companies but are not themselves B2B SaaS) - Healthcare providers (hospitals, clinics — unless healthtech SaaS) - Law firms, accounting firms - Construction, manufacturing (unless they sell software to those industries) If the company fails Gate 0: 1. Mark the account as **NOT QUALIFIED** with reason: "Industry disqualification — not a B2B SaaS/tech company" 2. Save a brief note to the Research Notes custom field explaining why (e.g., "Disqualified at industry check. Company is a venture studio/investment firm, not a B2B SaaS product company.") 3. Add the account to the Not Qualified list 4. Do NOT proceed with any research steps — stop here If the company passes Gate 0, proceed to the full research below. ## Research Execution Once you have the Account ID and the company has passed the industry check, follow these steps in order. Read `references/crawler-prompts.md` for the exact crawler prompts and schemas to use — don't improvise your own. ### Step 1: Apollo Account Lookup Call `view_account` with the Account ID. Extract: - Company name, domain, LinkedIn URL - `organization_id` (you'll need this for job postings) - Funding history - Any other available metadata ### Step 2: Job Postings Lookup Call `organization_job_postings` using the **`organization_id`** (not the Account ID). Look for SDR/BDR job postings. If you find one, grab its URL for the next step. ### Step 3: Website Intelligence (Multi-Call) Gather website intelligence using **multiple targeted single-page scrapes** instead of one large crawl. This is faster and more reliable. Follow `references/crawler-prompts.md` → Section 1 exactly: 1. **Call 1A — Homepage Scan:** Scrape the homepage (mode: "scrape") to discover CTAs, product launch banners, and URLs for the pricing page and signup page. 2. **Call 1B — Pricing & Trial Page:** If Call 1A found a pricing URL, scrape that page to extract pricing tiers and free trial details. Skip if no pricing URL was found. 3. **Call 1C — Signup Validation:** If Call 1A found a signup URL and the homepage suggested self-serve, scrape that page to verify it's a real self-serve signup form (not a disguised "talk to sales" contact form). Skip if no signup URL or only sales-led CTAs were found. Use the exact prompts and schemas from `references/crawler-prompts.md` for each call. Combine the results as described in the "Combining Results Across Calls" section. ### Step 4: SDR Job Description Analysis Use the **hiring-intel MCP** to get the full job description. See `references/crawler-prompts.md` → Section 2 for the exact approach: - **Primary method:** Call `extract_job_description` with the job posting URL from Step 2 (works for Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday, and most ATS platforms). - **Fallback for LinkedIn URLs:** LinkedIn job URLs are blocked by the scraper. Instead, call `search_jobs` with the company name + "SDR OR BDR OR Sales Development" to find the listing on other job boards like Indeed. - **If no SDR/BDR job posting was found in Step 2:** Call `search_jobs` with `search_term: " SDR OR BDR OR Sales Development"` and `results_wanted: 5` to check across job boards directly. - After retrieving the description, analyze it for inbound lead handling intent using the criteria in Section 2 of the crawler prompts. ### Step 5: LinkedIn Ads Lookup Use the **ad-intel MCP** to check LinkedIn advertising activity. See `references/crawler-prompts.md` → Section 3 for details. Call `ad_intel_linkedin_search` with `account_owner: ""` and `date_option: "last-30-days"`. This returns structured ad data directly — no scraping needed. ### Step 6: Compile Funding Data From the Apollo data gathered in Step 1, extract the most recent funding round. Check whether it occurred within the last 6 months (after September 2025 as of March 2026 — adjust this rolling window based on current date). ### Step 7: Compile Product Launch Data Cross-reference the `product_launches` field from Step 3's website crawl with any news/press data from Apollo. Consolidate findings. ## Qualification Decision Read `references/qualification-rules.md` for the exact rules. In short: evaluate 5 signals, and if ANY one is a positive match, the account is **Qualified**. If all 5 are negative (No Match), the account is **Not Qualified**. Inconclusive signals (crawl failures) don't count as matches but should be noted. Still evaluate other signals. - **LinkedIn Ad Library crawl fails**: Mark LinkedIn Ads signal as "Inconclusive". - **Job posting is on LinkedIn (can't crawl)**: Try the company's careers page. If that also fails, mark as "Inconclusive". - **Multiple accounts match a name search**: Show the user the matches and ask them to pick one. - **Organization ID missing from view_account**: This shouldn't happen, but if it does, note that job postings cannot be checked and mark signal 2 as "Inconclusive". ## Reference Files - `references/crawler-prompts.md` — Contains the exact crawler prompts and JSON schemas for each research dimension.
