This is the stone of Nandin, the son of Vattāvaṉ and the younger son iḷa-makaṉ of Nākkaiyār, he who fell fighting eṟintu when Poṟṟokkaiyār and the people maru-makkaḷ of the royal Bāṇa king marched vantaLiterally “went”. with the army of Cakkaravar upon Pōntai in carukk-irunta-Ūr.
