-pōttaraiyaṟku ppōttaraiyaṟku pōttaraiyaṟku 5-Ā vatu 5 Ā vatu 5 ñ vatu moēlaṉa ralaṉa mēlaṉa The original incorrect spelling cannot be mera, as this inscription makes the distinction between medial ā and ra. Both and read a piḷḷaiyār cūḻi after this final word, but there is no punctuation mark on the stone.

5th year of the victorious king Tantippōttaraiyaṉ.Sanskrit Dantin + Tamil Pōttaraiyaṉ. That is, the Pallava king Dantin, that is, Dantivarman Pallava.

This is the pond that Kalimūrkka-Iḷavaraiyaṉ, alias Vāḻi Vaṭukaṉ, a servant of the honourable king Pērati, alias Māṟappiṭuviṉār, made; its name is the Vāli tank.
