This is the stone of Viṟcitai, the son of Kaṭuvantaiyār, he who fell for the sake of Pōṉmāntāṉār poṉmāntāṉārkku + āy, when the Bāṇa king Muttaraiyar marched vantaLiterally "came". against Pōṉmāntāṉār, his tañThat is, taṉ in sandhi. uncle ciṟṟappaṭikaḷThat is, ciṟṟappaṉ + aṭikaḷ. nāṭu pāviya upon Mēṟkōvalūr.

6871 notes: The figure of a soldier facing left is engraved on the stone. He is seen holding a bow in his left hand and a short stagger in his right hand. Very near the right leg of the figure are seen sculptured a casket.
