<p n="1">
Writ/Writings of us, the members of the assembly of Uttaramerucaturvedimaṅgala in the Kāliyūrkkōṭṭam and in the same division.
</p>
<p n="1-2">
For the honourable Mahāviṣṇu of the glorious Govardhana in our village, as <foreign>arcanābhoga</foreign>: <supplied reason="subaudible">of</supplied> the glorious Dattakramavitta of Piṇikkipuṟam in Viṣṇu-cēri, <supplied reason="subaudible">one</supplied> share of his <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>tāṉ-uṭaiya paṅkum</foreign></supplied>, <seg cert="low">less the second plot</seg> <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>iraṇṭām pāṭaka nīkkiya</foreign></supplied> and one share comprising <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>uḷḷiṭṭa</foreign></supplied> the house-plots <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>maṉaiyum</foreign></supplied> and the <seg cert="low">Śravaṇā</seg> <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>śravaṇaiyum</foreign></supplied> <gap reason="ellipsis"/> <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>mutaṟ kuṭumpiṭṭu</foreign></supplied>, the principal plot <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>talai-p pāṭakam</foreign></supplied>, which Keśava-cēri Kurava-śrī-viṣṇu-caturvedi-bhaṭṭa gave, for this god, as <foreign>arcanā-bhoga</foreign>, that is, two hundred fourty <foreign>kuḻi</foreign>s <supplied reason="explanation">on</supplied> the bank of the Śrīdhara canal; that much <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>it-taṉai</foreign></supplied> of this land <supplied reason="subaudible">is meant as</supplied> <foreign>arcanābhoga</foreign>.

<p n="3-4">
For the Perumāṉaṭikaḷ of the glorious Govardhana, so that ― for feeding <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>uṇṇa</foreign></supplied> <supplied reason="subaudible">him</supplied>, worshipping <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>ārādhittu</foreign></supplied> and offering <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>kāṭṭi</foreign></supplied> one perpetual lamp <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>na<hi rend="grantha">ndā</hi>viḷakkum</foreign></supplied> and one glorious <foreign>amṛta</foreign> <supplied reason="explanation">that is, food offering</supplied> at early dawn <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>ciṟu-kālai</foreign></supplied> ― we give and provide <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>kāṭṭu-k kuṭuppōm</foreign></supplied> the entire taxes, of whatsoever kind, that come <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>vanta</foreign></supplied> through this land which is this <foreign>arcanābhoga</foreign> <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>iv-arccaṉā-bhogam-āyiṉa</foreign></supplied> that we <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>nām</foreign></supplied> have conferred <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>kuṭutta</foreign></supplied>, bathing <supplied reason="subaudible">his hands</supplied> with water <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>nīroṭu āṭṭi</foreign></supplied>, to Dāmodira-bhaṭṭa, son of the glorious Vaikhānasa Dharabhaṭṭa of Mēlūr in Mēlūr-k-kōṭṭam, <seg cert="low">as owner</seg> <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>uṭaiyaṉ-āka</foreign></supplied>, so that his lineage <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>anvayam</foreign></supplied>, <seg cert="low">as owner</seg> <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>uṭaiyaṉ-āka</foreign></supplied>, <supplied reason="subaudible">also</supplied> feeds <supplied reason="subaudible">the god in this way</supplied>, <supplied reason="subaudible">so that we do all the above,</supplied> we have received gold from him.

We, the members of the assembly of Uttaramerucaturvedimaṅgala, above-mentioned, will not perceive <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>kāṭṭa-p peṟātōm āṉōm</foreign><note>Literally: we have become those who have not obtained to provide.</note></supplied> the entire taxes, of whatsoever kind, that come through this land.

While, sitting in assembly, they <supplied reason="explanation">that is, the members of the assembly</supplied> <supplied reason="subaudible">so</supplied> ordered, I, the great carpenter of Uttarameru, wrote <supplied reason="subaudible">this</supplied>.

He who destroys <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>iṟakkināṉai</foreign></supplied> this pious act <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>dharma</foreign></supplied> <supplied reason="subaudible">performed in</supplied> Kurukṣetra, We, the members of the assembly, will fine <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>maṉṟuvōm āṉōm</foreign><note>Literally: we have become those who fine.</note></supplied> <supplied reason="subaudible">him</supplied> twenty-five <foreign>kaḻañcu</foreign>s of gold.

<p n="3-4">Ivaṉ-uṭaiya <hi rend="grantha">Anvaya</hi>m-ē-y <supplied reason="lost">u</supplied>ṇ=ṇa. This means the transaction (land assignment) is hereditary.</p>
<p n="5">The text engraved after the space left blank, from <foreign>ku<hi rend="grantha">rukṣetra</hi>ttu</foreign> onwards, is less deeply engraved and appears to have been added later. This seems confirmed by the hyphen "–" used right after <foreign>perun-taccaṉ-ēṉ</foreign> (indicating there that there is an addition) and right before <foreign>ku<hi rend="grantha">rukṣetra</hi>ttu</foreign> (indicating there the beginning of the addition).</p>
