<p n="3-18"><supplied reason="subaudible">This is</supplied> the stone <supplied reason="subaudible">of</supplied> Kaṭṭaṅkaṉṉār ― the son of Koṟṟavāciṟ<note>Probably a placename.</note> Karucāttaṉār, who rules over Karuṅkālipāṭi in Mīvēṇāṭu<note>That is, Mēlvēnāṭu according to <ptr target="bib:Mahalingam1988_01"/>.</note> ―, he who fell <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>paṭṭār</foreign></supplied> fighting <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>eṟintu</foreign></supplied> with Poṟpāṉaṉṉār, one of the people / the son <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>makkaḷ</foreign></supplied> of Naripaḷḷi Vīravāṇṇaraiyar, the servant of Poṟkāṭāṉṉār<note>It is not clear who is the servant of Poṟkāṭāṉṉār: Poṟpāṉaṉṉār, following <ptr target="bib:Mahalingam1988_01"/> and according to the names similarity, or Naripaḷḷi Vīravāṇṇaraiyar, according to straightforward syntax?</note>.<note>Alternative translation: "Kaṭṭaṅkaṉṉār <gap reason="ellipsis"/> fell. <supplied reason="subaudible">This is his</supplied> stone.<!--Update encoding--></note>
