The writing of us, the assembly of Śivacūḷāmaṇimaṅgala, <hi rend="italic">alias</hi> Śrī-Vikramābharaṇa-caturvedimaṅgala, <supplied reason="subaudible">a village</supplied> in its own subdivision of Kāliyūr-kōṭṭam.</p> <p n="4">Kaḻaṉivāyil-uṭaiyāṉ <unclear>P</unclear>eṟṟāṉ Ātittaṉ of Kaḻaṉivāyil, <supplied reason="subaudible">a village</supplied> in Tiruvaḻuntūr-nāṭu, <supplied reason="subaudible">a district</supplied> on the southern bank <supplied reason="subaudible">of the Kāvērī</supplied> in Cōḻa-nāṭu, had purchased from Otimukki<unclear>bhrān</unclear>ta-Kramavittaṉ 538 <foreign>kuḻi</foreign>s of cultivated land, <supplied reason="subaudible">measured</supplied> by a graduated rod, to the north of the Taṟutampa channel,<note>The same channel was mentioned in No. 2, line 4.</note> to the south of Pakaṭi, and to the west of the road to <supplied reason="subaudible">the temple of</supplied> the god <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>perumāṉ-aṭi</foreign></supplied>, and had assigned <supplied reason="subaudible">this</supplied> land for the maintenance<note>The term <foreign>puṟam</foreign> occurs again in No. 4, line 8, and in No. 12, line 6.</note> of a flower-garden <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>nantavāṉam</foreign></supplied> to the god <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>paramasvāmin</foreign></supplied> of the Puvaṉimāṇikka-Viṣṇugr̥ha in our village.</p> <p n="7">The same person had purchased from us, the assembly, for a flower-garden, 501 <foreign>kuḻi</foreign>s of land, <supplied reason="subaudible">measured</supplied> by a graduated rod, to the west of the irrigation channel<note>Literally, ‘the channel (from which water is drawn by) small levers;’ on <foreign>kuṟṟ-ēttam</foreign> see Vol. II. p. 360, note 4.</note> of Muṭumpai Cantirācca-Kramar, to the north of the river, to the east of the field of Śrīnārāyaṇa-Agniśarma-Kramar with the exception of a road <supplied reason="subaudible">of the breadth</supplied> of one rod, <supplied reason="subaudible">and</supplied> to the south <supplied reason="subaudible">of the field</supplied> of Muṭumpai Cantirācca-Tampiyum-Uḷḷiṭṭār.<note>The expression <foreign>uḷḷiṭṭār</foreign>, ‘partners,’ occurs in Vol. I.
