In the 12th year and 326th day of <supplied reason="subaudible">the reign of</supplied> king Pārthivendrādhipativarman, queen, Tribhuvana-Mahādeviyār, purchased from the ryots of Uttaramēru-caturvedimaṅkalam and gave the following lands for sounding <supplied reason="subaudible">drums</supplied> at the <foreign>śrībali</foreign> <supplied reason="subaudible">ceremony</supplied> to the god <supplied reason="subaudible">in the temple</supplied> of Śrīveli-Vishṇugr̥ha which Koṅgaraiyar had constructed in this village:—</p> <p n="2">810 <supplied reason="subaudible"><foreign>kuḻi</foreign>s</supplied> in the first <foreign>catukkam</foreign> <supplied reason="subaudible">situated</supplied> to the west of <supplied reason="subaudible">the path called</supplied> Uttaramēru-vati of the fifth <foreign>kaṇṇāṟu</foreign> to the south of <supplied reason="subaudible">the channel called</supplied> Subrahmaṇya-vāykkāl; 120 <supplied reason="subaudible"><foreign>kuḻi</foreign>s</supplied> of the second <foreign>catukkam</foreign> in the same place; 760 <supplied reason="subaudible"><foreign>kuḻi</foreign>s</supplied> in the third <foreign>catukkam</foreign> in the same place; 240 <supplied reason="subaudible"><foreign>kuḻi</foreign>s</supplied> in the fourth <foreign>catukkam</foreign> in the same place; 453 <supplied reason="subaudible"><foreign>kuḻi</foreign>s</supplied> in the third <foreign>catukkam</foreign> of the 4th <foreign>kaṇṇāṟu</foreign> in the same place; and 112 <supplied reason="subaudible"><foreign>kuḻi</foreign>s</supplied> in the fourth <foreign>catukkam</foreign> in the same place. For <supplied reason="subaudible">these</supplied> 2,495 <foreign>kuḻi</foreign>s in all, we <supplied reason="subaudible">the members</supplied> of the big assembly of Uttaramēru-caturvedimaṅkalam, having received <foreign>pūrvācāram</foreign> from queen Tribhuvana-Mahādeviyār, deducted the taxes as long the moon and the sun <supplied reason="subaudible">last</supplied>, and ordered <supplied reason="subaudible">the lands</supplied> to be tax-free. In order to sound <supplied reason="subaudible">drums</supplied> at the three <foreign>sandhi</foreign>s of the day <supplied reason="subaudible"><hi rend="italic">i.e.</hi>, morning, midday and evening</supplied> during the <foreign>śrībali</foreign> <supplied reason="subaudible">ceremony</supplied> and at the waking up <supplied reason="subaudible">of the image</supplied> from bed, out of <supplied reason="subaudible">the income accruing from</supplied> these lands, we gave <supplied reason="subaudible">these lands</supplied> as <foreign>śrībalipuṟam</foreign>, freed from <supplied reason="subaudible">the payment of</supplied> taxes and had <supplied reason="subaudible">this edict</supplied> engraved on stone.</p> <p n="7">The <foreign>śraddhāmanta</foreign>s shall themselves impose a fine of twenty-five <foreign>kaḻañcu</foreign>s of gold on each person who obstructs this charity. <supplied reason="subaudible">Even after</supplied> paying this fine, they shall not obstruct this charity. Those who obstruct shall incur the sins committed by sinners <supplied reason="subaudible">living</supplied> between Gaṅgā (the Ganges) and Kumari (Cape Comorin). They <supplied reason="subaudible"><hi rend="italic">i.e.</hi>, the members of the assembly</supplied> shall not show any kind of tax, <foreign>eccōṟu</foreign>, <foreign>veṭṭi</foreign> and <foreign>amañci</foreign> against these lands. We <supplied reason="subaudible">the members</supplied> of the big assembly of Uttaramēru-caturvedimaṅkalam, thus made <supplied reason="subaudible">the lands</supplied> tax-free and had <supplied reason="subaudible">the edict</supplied> engraved on stone. I, Śivadāsaṉ Aiyāyirattirunūṟṟuva-Brahmapriyaṉ, an arbitrator <supplied reason="explanation"><foreign>madhyasthaṉ</foreign></supplied> of this village, and one of the <supplied reason="subaudible">members of the</supplied> assembly, wrote this at the command <supplied reason="subaudible">of the assembly</supplied>.
