Uḷārānaṁ Āyuvadhanikaṁ culayānaṁdeyadhaṁma pāyako sasujiko Imaṁ

Uḷārānaṁ Uḍārāna The akṣara ends in a fork that distinguishes the ḷa from the ḍa, as in KnI0126: koḷaṁba. See also, for instance, KnI0417: kaṁdamūlaphaḷanivāro; EIAD 200, l. 2: vetarakuḷo. The orthography uḷāra, also attested in KnI0072 and KnI0127, while distinct from the Aśokan uḍāra is identical to Pāli. See , s.v. Āyuvadhanikaṁ Āyuvadhanika culayānaṁ culiyāya If this corresponds to cullaka, then it would form a pair with uḷāra, as in Aśoka’s MRE 1F khudakā uḍārā. This and the next record would thus be unusual, in that the name of the donor would not feature. deyadhaṁma deyadhama sasujiko sasuciko Imaṁ nomaṁ who note: Following only the photo the word (i)maṁ read in MASI can be excluded, cf. imān, MASI p. 470, no. 155. The reading Imaṁ is in fact confirmed in KnI0220, l. 2.

An upright, together with a cross-bar: this is the pious gift of the lower ones (?) in order to increase the lifespan of the high up ones.
