The lettering is characteristic of the seventh century CE. Except in the last three lines, where it has its common circular shape, the vowel marker -i in most of this text takes a spiral shape with more or less ornamental downward extension, to left or to right of the akṣara's body: see the shapes of -i in citta (l. 2), Asthita (l. 4), sina (l. 4). Throughout the inscription, we see the use of blank space to separate items in the list of slaves. We also, on a small number of occasions, encoiunter unexplained spaces within words/names. Expected virāma signs are missing in several cases.

Names with suffix -datta are mostly attested in the inscriptions of the Mekong Delta region. For a list of such names, see Michael Vickery (201).

Regarding the term kro vṅā in line 2, Philip Jenner (80) analyses krov ṅā; mention evidence of equivalence -o(v) : -au(v) in syllable-final position.

279 140 La quatrième stèle fut apporté, avons-nous dit plus haut, à Saigon où elle resta longtemps au Palais du gouverneur. Elle contient une inscription de dix lignes gravées sur une seule face bien préparée et qui aurait pu en contenir quarante. Sauf quelques lettres perdues, le document est très net; son écriture ferme, régulière, est aussi du VIIe siècle. Il nomme les esclaves, trente et un hommes et dix-sept femmes (donnés) en oeuvre pie par un seigneur, le Poñ Kr̥ṣṇadatta au dieu Śrī Amrātakeśvara. 224L'inscription (I, 33) est une stèle provenant de Thap-Muoi (Cochinchine) et qui a été conservée successivement au Palais du Gouverneur, puis à l'ancien Musée de Saigon, d'où elle était retournée au Palais du Gouverneur (Aymonier, Cambodge, I, 140). 47810 lignes en langue vulgaire sur une pierre coupée de telle sorte qu'on ne peut affirmer que le texte soit complet. (Primitivement déposée à Sadec, non retrouvée.) 6Thap Muoi (Phong-nam, Sadec, Cochinchine). Conservée antérieure dans le Jardin du Gouvernement Général à Saigon. 10 linges. Cette pierre porte une inscription khmère relatant un don d'esclaves au dieu Śrī Amrātakeśvara (forme de Śiva). 2 XLI 96-97 G. Coedès ( 877) mention only the page 96 but we find that the reference to K.8 continues to page 97. Cette pièce bizarre (fig. 35) qui a été désignée au début, sans doute parce que l'estampage seul avait été connu de M. Aymonier, sous le nom de "stèle plate coupée en forme de mire" et qualifiée par M. de Lajonquière de "stèle à tenon inférieur", est pour M. Coedès un liṅga. 5Aymonier (C., I, 139) mentionne en ce point l'existence de quatre inscriptions (Coedès 5-8) dont une est à Saigon (Coedès 5), une seconde à Phnom Penh (Coedès 8) et les deux autres perdues. 181Ce vocable (Āmrātakeśa), qui revient à plusieurs reprises dans l'épigraphie préangkorienne, a dû être porté par plusieurs sanctuaires. On le rencontre entre autres à Prasat Pram Loveṅ, K. 8; à Sophas, K. 115 (ibid., p. 343), et à Tuol Kok Praḥ, K. 493. 76 La quatrième inscription (K. 8) fut apportée à Saigon où elle resta pendant longtemps au Palais du Gouverneur. Elle passa à l'ancien Musée de Saigon, retourna dans le Parc du Gouvernement Général, entra en 1902 au Musée de l'Ecole à Saigon et fut acheminée enfin sur le Musée de Phnom Penh, où elle est restée. C'est un piédroit inscrit en grès schisteux noiâtre, portant un texte khmer de 10 lignes du VIe siècle Śaka (VIIe siècle A.D.) qui fait mention d'un don d'esclaves au dieu Śrī Amratakeśvara (forme de Śiva).
