This iyam image pratimā of the Sage muneḥ was made kr̥tā by the Sthavira called Dharmamr̥garāja, for the sake of the merit of uddiśya the elder sthavira Bhadanta Jinabhadra, who was his maternal uncle’s maternal uncle mātula-mātula.

Suffering, the arising of suffering, and the transcendence of suffering, and the noble eightfold path, leading to the cessation of suffering that is peace/emancipation khemopaśama.

The second stanza is cited from the Dhammapada (Dhp 191 in the Pali Canon). The same stanza has also been found in the gold foil inscription from Go Xoai (K. 1330), has been found in contemporary inscriptions from Thailand and even in Andhra Pradesh, in India (EIAD 218). See Skilling 1991 & 1999.
