The lettering is characteristic of the seventh century CE. According to George Cœdès (514), the akṣaras are inelegant and careless. They bears some archaism, especially through the forms of ra and ṇa which recall the inscriptions of the 5th century, i.e. Fou-nan period. Nevertheless, this inscription does not belong the Fou-nan period. The archaism might be from the continuation of ancient graphical traditions of the region which had been the capital of Fou-nan.
