# License & Credits PowerAim is **source-available**, not open-source. This single file holds the licensing terms, the source-available rationale, and the credits. Everything else in the repository and docs simply links here, so the rest of the documentation stays independent of the legal / attribution details. ## License — PolyForm Noncommercial PowerAim is licensed under the **PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0** license. The full, governing text is in the [`LICENSE`](LICENSE) file at the repository root. **You may:** - Read, run and modify PowerAim for personal use - Fork it on GitHub and contribute pull requests back - Train and submit models, translate the UI - Share your modifications anywhere **non-commercial** — with friends, on Discord, on YouTube **You may not:** - Sell PowerAim or any derivative - Bundle it into a paid product - Put it behind paywalls, ads or "verify you're human" gates - Use it as the base for a commercial competing product "Non-Commercial Use" means any use or activity where a fee is not charged, the purpose is not the sale of a good or service, and the use is not intended to produce a profit. If you're using PowerAim privately, sharing it with friends, or improving it for the community — you're fine. If you're charging money, running ads, or building a business on top of it — you're not. ## Why source-available, not open-source? We greatly encourage users to modify PowerAim however they see fit. However, **we do not want a third party to profit off the software** — a value the open-source community as a whole does not share. The project grew up in a community where subsets are openly profit-motivated (one recently-released similar tool makes users click through five ad-only webpages before it runs). We don't want to promote that, but going fully closed-source would cut off the legitimate community of accessibility users, hobbyist contributors, model trainers and translators who keep the project alive. So we settled on **source-available**. We could have used BSD or MIT and gained more users, but the cost — watching the project be repackaged with an ad wall and sold — wasn't worth it. We'd rather have a smaller, healthier community than a bigger, exploited one. Thank you for respecting that. ## Upstream & credits PowerAim started as a fork of [Babyhamsta/Aimmy](https://github.com/Babyhamsta/Aimmy) but has since been heavily reworked: a decoupled service architecture, a complete trigger-system overhaul, a Fluent-styled UI, gamepad / AutoPlay support, localization in 9 languages, dynamic model sizes, and a much faster capture & inference pipeline.
