# CareCompanion Privacy Policy

**In short:** CareCompanion stores everything — your medications, notes, contacts, and health entries — only on your own device. There is no account, no server, and no cloud sync. We never see, collect, or transmit your data.

## 1. Who this policy covers

CareCompanion is a personal app that helps you — and the people close to you — keep track of medications, nutrition, weight, test results, and important contacts. This policy explains what information the app handles and, just as importantly, what it does not do with it.

This policy applies to the CareCompanion app on iOS and Android.

## 2. Information stored in the app

Depending on how you use CareCompanion, the following information may be entered and kept on your device:

| Weight | Logged weight entries over time |
| Contacts | Names, phone numbers, relationships, and notes you choose to add |
| Preferences | Language choice and notification settings |

You decide what to enter. None of this information is required to install or open the app, and every field is optional beyond what's needed for a given entry to make sense (for example, a medication needs a name).

## 3. How your data is stored

All information you enter is saved in a local database that lives entirely on your phone or tablet — there is no CareCompanion server, no account system, and no synchronization to any cloud service. We, the developers, have no ability to access, view, or recover your data, because it never leaves your device.

If you use both an iPhone and an Android device, entries made on one will not appear on the other — the app does not transfer data between devices.

## 4. Reminders & notifications

If you turn on medication reminders, CareCompanion schedules local notifications directly through your device's operating system. These reminders are generated and delivered entirely on-device — no reminder content is sent to us or to any push-notification server.

## 5. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, share, or transmit your data to any third party, advertiser, or analytics service — because the app does not send your data anywhere in the first place. There are no ads and no tracking SDKs in CareCompanion.

## 6. Retention & deletion

You are always in control of your data:

- Delete any single entry (a medication, meal, symptom, contact, and so on) at any time from within the app.
- Use **Settings → Reset all data** to permanently erase everything stored by the app in one step.
- Uninstalling the app removes its local database completely, along with any scheduled reminders.

## 7. Health information notice

CareCompanion is a personal organization tool, not a medical device. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional about your medications, symptoms, and care. Because the entries you make can be sensitive, we've built the app so that this information never leaves your device — see [How your data is stored](#3-how-your-data-is-stored) above.

## 8. Children's privacy

CareCompanion is intended for use by adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children — in practice, we don't collect information from anyone, since nothing is transmitted off your device. If a parent or guardian helps a young person use the app, they should manage the entries on their behalf.

## 9. Security

Your data is protected by your device's standard operating-system safeguards for locally stored app data (such as iOS and Android app sandboxing). Because CareCompanion never transmits your information over a network, there is no server to breach and no data in transit to intercept. The main practical safeguard is your device's own lock screen — we recommend keeping it enabled.

## 10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, note them within the app. Since the app doesn't collect contact details, we're unable to notify you directly — please check back here occasionally if you'd like to stay informed.
