BeefTV licensing ================ Part A: BeefTV Source Available License 1.0 ----------------------------------------- Copyright (c) 2026 @beefnoode and BeefTV contributors Commercial authorization: lucas@bf-labs.cn 1. Scope and existing rights This Part A applies to new, original BeefTV-authored material first made available under this license, starting with the commit that introduces it, and to subsequent original contributions submitted under it, unless an applicable file or component notice states otherwise. "Covered Material" means only those portions that their copyright holders are entitled to license under this Part A. A "Licensor" is a copyright holder or authorized representative granting rights in Covered Material. Material previously made available under MIT remains available under MIT. This includes the existing material in commits a96baf082f478901ed558c91a80bc29dfade523c and 2327ee2d80282b10dd8bef0f26b48990d46f5c3b, as well as any other material previously published under MIT. The original MIT text and copyright notices are retained in Part B. Part A does not revoke, replace, or restrict those existing permissions, even when that material is included in a later release. In a file containing both historical material and new original additions, Part A applies only to eligible new additions, not the historical material. Third-party code, dependencies, models, fonts, assets, and other independently licensed material are excluded from Covered Material and retain their own terms. Material whose distribution must be governed by GPL or another incompatible license is also excluded. This exclusion does not by itself establish that a combined distribution is compatible: distributors must satisfy all applicable licenses and must not make incompatible combinations without obtaining the necessary compatible permissions. See NOTICE and THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md. 2. Definitions "Your Organization" means your own legal entity and persons acting solely for its internal purposes under its direction. Customers, affiliates, and other independent entities are not automatically part of Your Organization. "Derivative Work" means a work that is legally a derivative of Covered Material. Independent implementations, mere API compatibility, and outputs do not become Derivative Works solely because they interact with BeefTV. "External Service" means giving a third party access to operate, interact with, or invoke Covered Material or a Derivative Work, including through a hosted application, managed service, remote desktop, or API. Delivering creative outputs alone is not an External Service. 3. Permitted use Subject to these terms, each Licensor grants you a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free copyright license to use, copy, and modify Covered Material for personal use, study, research, and Your Organization's internal work, including commercial work and creative work performed for clients. You may self-host and privately modify it for those purposes. This Part A does not require publication of internal modifications; independent third-party license obligations still apply. You may commercially use and deliver your creative outputs, including videos, images, audio, and other content. The Licensors claim no ownership of your original content merely because you used BeefTV. This does not grant rights in pre-existing software, templates, models, or third-party material included in an output, or determine whether an AI output is protected by copyright. 4. Community distribution You may distribute Covered Material and Derivative Works, in source or binary form, without commercial consideration, provided that you: (a) include this license and applicable copyright, source, and third-party notices; (b) provide the covered portions under this same Part A, without removing recipients' rights under it; (c) identify your changes and distinguish modified versions from official releases; and (d) do not carry out an activity requiring authorization under section 5. This does not change the license of separable independent work or excluded material. It does not require your private modifications to be published. 5. Activities requiring separate written authorization Unless separately authorized in writing by the relevant rights holders or their authorized representatives, you may not: (a) sell, rent, license for a fee, or otherwise supply Covered Material or a Derivative Work for commercial consideration, whether standalone, rebranded, white-labeled, embedded, or bundled with another offering; (b) charge a third party for installing, deploying, migrating, customizing and delivering, or operating a system containing Covered Material or a Derivative Work for that third party; or (c) provide an External Service, whether paid or free, whether single-tenant or multi-tenant, and whether operated for profit or on a nonprofit basis. Commercial consideration includes direct or indirect payment for these activities. Describing software as free, bundling it as a gift, charging installation or maintenance fees instead, or using an intermediary does not exempt an activity that is substantively covered by this section. These restrictions apply only to Covered Material and Derivative Works, not to creative outputs, independent work, or independently licensed historical or third-party material. Section 1 continues to govern the scope. 6. Independent education and advice You may charge for independent tutorials, training, and general technical advice about BeefTV, including demonstrations and guidance for lawful self-deployment. If an offering also includes software resale, paid system deployment or delivery, or an External Service, those parts still require authorization under section 5. A course bundled with a deployed system is not exempt merely because the payment is described as a course fee. 7. Attribution and project identity Preserve applicable copyright and license notices. Do not misrepresent a modified version as an official BeefTV release or claim official endorsement without permission. This license grants no trademark or certification rights; truthful identification of the software's origin is permitted. It does not require a logo or watermark on your creative outputs. 8. Contributions and separate permissions Unless explicitly agreed otherwise before acceptance, an original contribution intentionally submitted for inclusion under Part A is provided under Part A. For that contribution, the contributor also grants the maintainers of the official glanderness/BeefTV repository a worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free copyright license to reproduce, modify, distribute, and sublicense it under Part A or separate commercial terms. The contributor retains copyright. This grant applies only to rights the contributor can grant and does not extend to historical contributions or third-party work. Separate commercial permissions must specify their scope. Merely requesting authorization or receiving general advice is not a grant of permission. No maintainer can authorize rights they do not hold or represent. Contact lucas@bf-labs.cn for requests. 9. Compliance and license versions The rights granted by this Part A are conditional on compliance with it. A material breach terminates the rights granted to the breaching user under Part A. For a first breach, those rights are reinstated if the user fully cures it within 30 days after receiving notice from a Licensor. Rights of recipients who remain in compliance are not terminated by an upstream breach. This does not terminate independent rights under Part B or third-party terms. Future license changes do not retroactively alter the terms granted for a version you already received. Apart from termination for breach, the grant for that version continues for the duration of the applicable copyright. 10. Disclaimer and limitation of liability To the extent permitted by applicable law, Covered Material is provided "AS IS", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and noninfringement. The Licensors are not liable for claims, damages, or other liability arising from its use or distribution, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise. Nothing here excludes liability that applicable law does not allow to be excluded, or overrides an express obligation in a separate written agreement. Part B: Historical and upstream MIT material ------------------------------------------- The following original license remains applicable to previously MIT-licensed material, including the historical and upstream portions identified above and in NOTICE. It is not an alternative MIT license for new Covered Material licensed only under Part A.
