# Welcome

This editor is where you write, save, and publish entries for your site: posts, pages,
whatever your site owner set up for you to manage. You don't need a password, an account
of your own, or anything installed. You sign in with your email address and a link.

## Signing in

1. Go to your site's address followed by `/admin`. For example, if your site is
   `yoursite.com`, go to `yoursite.com/admin`. Enter the email address your site owner
   added for you, then select **Send sign-in link**.
2. Check your inbox. A message arrives with a one-time link. Open it within 10 minutes, or
   it expires and you'll need to request a new one.
3. The link opens a page that asks you to confirm. Select **Confirm sign-in**. This extra
   step exists so opening the email itself can't sign you in by accident.

You'll land in the editor, signed in. Bookmark `yoursite.com/admin` (with your own site's
address) so you can come straight back next time without waiting on another email.

**You'll see the same "check your email" message either way, whether your site owner has
added your address yet or not.** That's deliberate: it keeps anyone who tries a random
address from learning which addresses are real. If nothing arrives after a minute or two,
check your spam folder first. If it still isn't there, your address may not be the one
your site owner added. Ask them to check.

**If you request a link twice in quick succession**, the second request doesn't send a
new one. The page asks you to check your inbox, or wait a minute and try again. That's a
safety limit, not an error.

## Staying signed in

Once you're signed in, your browser stays signed in for about a month, so you won't have
to repeat this every time. If you're on a shared or public computer, sign out when you're
done. The sign-out control lives with your name in the editor's sidebar.

## If the editor looks empty

If you sign in and see a plain welcome message with nothing to write in, your account
isn't set up to manage anything yet. That's not a fault on your end. Let whoever
administers your site know, and they can give you something to work on.
