PRIVACY POLICY — Sailing Calculator Last updated: September 30, 2026 This Privacy Policy describes how the Sailing Calculator mobile application ("the App") handles information when you use it. The App is developed and maintained by an individual developer: Developer: Grzegorz Koralewski Contact e-mail: koralewski.g@gmail.com By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App. 1. INFORMATION WE DO NOT COLLECT The App does not require you to create an account. We do not collect, store, transmit, or have access to your name, e-mail address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information. The App does not use analytics, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs, and does not include advertising or third-party advertising SDKs. 2. LOCATION DATA The App requests access to your device's location (fine and/or coarse location permission) in order to provide its core functionality: showing your current position, calculating tacking/upwind sailing routes, and calibrating navigation features relative to your position and heading in real time. - Your location is used only momentarily, on your device, to power the App's live on-screen calculations and map display. - The App does not save, log, or store your location, and does not transmit it to the developer or to any server, because the developer does not operate any backend server at all. - The App may rely on Google Play Services / Google's location APIs on Android to obtain positioning data from your device's GPS and other sensors. As part of resolving your position, your approximate location may be processed by Google in accordance with Google's own Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy). This processing happens at the operating-system level and is outside the developer's control; it is disclosed here for transparency, even though the developer itself never receives, stores, or has access to this data. - When you use the App's wind/weather features, your current coordinates (or the coordinates of a point you selected on the map) are sent to the third-party weather service Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) solely in order to request current or forecast wind direction for that location. This request does not include your name, device identifiers, or any account information, because the App has none to send — only the geographic coordinates needed to answer "what is the wind doing here". Open-Meteo does not require or use an API key or account for this request. This data is governed by Open-Meteo's own privacy practices (https://open-meteo.com/en/terms), independently of this App. - You can disable location access at any time through your device settings. Core features of the App will not work without location access, since the App is built around real-time positioning. 3. LOCAL STORAGE ON YOUR DEVICE The App saves some information locally on your own device so that it keeps working the way you left it between sessions. This includes: - Your app settings and preferences (e.g., display and calibration options). - Manually planned routes you create in the App (start/destination coordinates and route points). - Information about which map area you have downloaded for offline use, and the downloaded map tiles themselves. None of this locally stored data is ever transmitted to the developer or to any third party — it stays on your device, under your control. You can delete it at any time by clearing the App's storage in your device settings or by uninstalling the App. 4. INTERNET ACCESS The App uses internet access for two purposes only: - Downloading offline map tiles from third-party map tile providers, as described in Section 3. - Requesting wind direction/forecast data from Open-Meteo, as described in Section 2. No other data is sent over the internet by the App. 5. DATA SHARING WITH THIRD PARTIES We do not collect any personal user data ourselves, so we have no such data to sell, rent, or trade. The only outside parties technically involved in the App's operation, and what they receive, are: - Map tile providers — receive requests for map imagery for the area you choose to download; do not receive your identity or any personal data. - Open-Meteo — receives geographic coordinates only, to return wind data for that location, as described in Section 2. - Google Play Services — may process your approximate location at the operating-system level as described in Section 2, subject to Google's own Privacy Policy. The developer itself does not receive, store, or further share any data from or with any of these parties. 6. DATA RETENTION The developer does not operate a backend server and does not collect, receive, or retain any user data remotely. Locally stored data (settings, manually planned routes, offline map tiles — see Section 3) remains only on your device, under your control, until you clear it or uninstall the App. 7. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required by your local law) and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us at the e-mail address above so we can address it. 8. YOUR RIGHTS Depending on your jurisdiction (including under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR, applicable to users in the European Union), you may have rights regarding any personal data processed about you. The developer does not collect, receive, or store any personal data through the App, so the developer has no data to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf. Any processing of your approximate location by Google Play Services, as described in Section 2, is governed by Google's own privacy policy and Google's own mechanisms for exercising your rights. For any questions, contact us at the e-mail address below. 9. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the App's functionality or to comply with legal requirements. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly. Continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. 10. CONTACT US If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or the App's data practices, please contact: Grzegorz Koralewski koralewski.g@gmail.com
