Director of Platform Technologies,"}, {"start": 51.0, "text": "thank you for being here."}, {"start": 52.0, "text": "You were the host of SOTU this year."}, {"start": 54.0, "text": "We can see you right now on the Apple Developer app and website,"}, {"start": 57.0, "text": "YouTube and BiliBili."}, {"start": 59.0, "text": "This seems like a question for you."}, {"start": 60.0, "text": "Can you give us the headline for SOTU this year?"}, {"start": 62.0, "text": "Oh yeah."}, {"start": 63.0, "text": "Well, I mean, SOTU itself is sort of the headline for the whole show,"}, {"start": 66.0, "text": "but if it had its own headline,"}, {"start": 68.0, "text": "I guess it would be the three themes of the year."}, {"start": 69.0, "text": "It would be, you know, rebuilt intelligence, refine platforms,"}, {"start": 73.0, "text": "and transform tools."}, {"start": 74.0, "text": "What do we mean by transformed tools?"}, {"start": 76.0, "text": "Oh, well, you know,"}, {"start": 77.0, "text": "intelligence is just transforming the way that we're doing development,"}, {"start": 80.0, "text": "and the tools themselves have this year"}, {"start": 82.0, "text": "really undergone a huge transformation towards agentic coding."}, {"start": 86.0, "text": "That's just making it so much easier to build stuff."}, {"start": 89.0, "text": "Lots to dig into there in SOTU and in the sessions that are..."}, {"start": 92.0, "text": "A ton to go into across everything for sure."}, {"start": 94.0, "text": "That's fantastic."}, {"start": 95.0, "text": "There's a really lovely line in SOTU, I like this line a lot."}, {"start": 97.0, "text": "It's about the intelligent platform and I'm paraphrasing,"}, {"start": 99.0, "text": "but the line is about how rich native experiences"}, {"start": 101.0, "text": "and intelligent natural language interfaces come together."}, {"start": 105.0, "text": "Can you tell me a little bit more about what that means?"}, {"start": 107.0, "text": "Yeah, intelligence is changing so many things,"}, {"start": 110.0, "text": "but in this particular case, there's the intelligence coming into apps"}, {"start": 114.0, "text": "that's making apps themselves more powerful,"}, {"start": 116.0, "text": "and adding capabilities within them that weren't previously even possible."}, {"start": 120.0, "text": "And then there's intelligence at the system level, like with Siri,"}, {"start": 122.0, "text": "where it's making, you know, system-wide interactions more powerful."}, {"start": 125.0, "text": "And these things are really complementary."}, {"start": 127.0, "text": "The apps are just as important as they have always been,"}, {"start": 130.0, "text": "now made even more powerful by intelligence,"}, {"start": 132.0, "text": "and accessible in new ways through the system level intelligence."}, {"start": 135.0, "text": "It's just a really great combination at both layers."}, {"start": 138.0, "text": "There's a lot this year."}, {"start": 140.0, "text": "What are some of the things, this is not an entirely fair question,"}, {"start": 142.0, "text": "what are some of the things that you're most excited for people to check out?"}, {"start": 146.0, "text": "Boy, I mean there's just so much,"}, {"start": 147.0, "text": "but obviously when you're gonna get started,"}, {"start": 149.0, "text": "you'll download Xcode and install it,"}, {"start": 151.0, "text": "and try out all the new capabilities with agents,"}, {"start": 154.0, "text": "and new ways to code and develop."}, {"start": 156.0, "text": "It's just a pretty incredible leap forward."}, {"start": 159.0, "text": "Lots of headlines, lots going on this year, right out front."}, {"start": 162.0, "text": "What's an example of something that you and your team are especially proud of"}, {"start": 165.0, "text": "that might not be as apparent,"}, {"start": 167.0, "text": "might not be as outwardly obvious to people?"}, {"start": 170.0, "text": "You know, I think building with frontier models"}, {"start": 175.0, "text": "seems like it should be really easy."}, {"start": 177.0, "text": "But there's a lot of barrier to getting started."}, {"start": 179.0, "text": "I mean you have to figure out a business model"}, {"start": 181.0, "text": "where you can pay for all these token usage"}, {"start": 183.0, "text": "and figure out how to connect to somebody's server and all this stuff."}, {"start": 186.0, "text": "There's a lot of, especially for somebody just getting started,"}, {"start": 190.0, "text": "things to figure out."}, {"start": 191.0, "text": "So what I'm really excited about with the Foundation Models framework this year,"}, {"start": 195.0, "text": "is the ability to now just access one of these frontier models"}, {"start": 198.0, "text": "in Private Cloud Compute with basically no setup or friction at all."}, {"start": 203.0, "text": "I think it's gonna democratize access to this"}, {"start": 205.0, "text": "in a a really incredible way"}, {"start": 207.0, "text": "and we're gonna start seeing apps that will get developed"}, {"start": 210.0, "text": "that might not have otherwise even happened"}, {"start": 212.0, "text": "because of the the barriers to entry."}, {"start": 214.0, "text": "This is going to be a very big week."}, {"start": 215.0, "text": "Once again, we got more than a hundred sessions this year,"}, {"start": 218.0, "text": "covering all sorts of everything."}, {"start": 220.0, "text": "Can you tell me a little bit about what people can expect"}, {"start": 222.0, "text": "when they go to dive into that list this year?"}, {"start": 224.0, "text": "Yeah, I mean the great thing about the session list"}, {"start": 226.0, "text": "is that it covers such a broad range."}, {"start": 228.0, "text": "Like there's a ton of things that are just really broad interest"}, {"start": 231.0, "text": "that everyone's gonna really enjoy seeing."}, {"start": 234.0, "text": "Down to really niche things that are super interesting,"}, {"start": 237.0, "text": "but maybe, you know, relevant to a smaller subset of people."}, {"start": 240.0, "text": "And it goes really deep in all these areas."}, {"start": 243.0, "text": "It's really exciting."}, {"start": 244.0, "text": "What do you and your team most look forward to?"}, {"start": 247.0, "text": "It's kind of a mature question."}, {"start": 248.0, "text": "When WWDC is approaching, what do you most look forward to?"}, {"start": 251.0, "text": "Oh man, I mean the exciting thing about Dub Dub coming up is"}, {"start": 256.0, "text": "just the anticipation of getting to put this out in the world"}, {"start": 259.0, "text": "and have everybody see what we've been working on for so long,"}, {"start": 262.0, "text": "and see the reactions, and hopefully great positive reactions,"}, {"start": 265.0, "text": "but also get the feedback of areas where there's, you know,"}, {"start": 268.0, "text": "an opportunity to do better,"}, {"start": 270.0, "text": "and listen to how it's being received, and figure out what we do next."}, {"start": 274.0, "text": "Do you get feedback all week long?"},
