SEARCHIT processes selected text locally to display the optional quick popup and to perform searches. The popup runs on ordinary webpages only after you enable it and grant website access. Selected text is sent to your chosen website only when you click a search action in the popup or right-click menu. Search options and preferences are stored locally in your browser. When window reuse is enabled, temporary associations between search windows and source tabs or configured search links are kept locally for the current browser session. Website icons come from Chrome’s favicon service. Exporting copies your configured options to the clipboard. The developer does not receive search text or settings, and the extension includes no analytics or tracking. Destination websites handle searches under their own privacy policies. SEARCHIT’s use of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
