電影《[卡特教頭](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0393162/)》（Coach Carter）[有一幕](https://youtu.be/mFVr4vTBbfI) 讓我永生難忘：

> 我們最深的恐懼，並非自己不夠好，而是超乎想像的能力。
>
> Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
>
> 真正讓我們害怕的，不是黑暗，而是自身綻放的光芒。
>
> It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
>
> 畏縮的態度並不能改變世界，隱藏內在的潛能並不會讓他人更有安全感。
>
> Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
>
> 我們都注定要像孩子一樣閃耀 — 這道光，不只存在於少數人，而是存在於每一個人。
>
> We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.

以前，我常因爲害怕失敗，而不敢全力以赴。我害怕失敗後他人的眼光、害怕盡全力後還失敗，會讓自己無所遁形。

現在，我發現自己更害怕成功：如果一切真的順利、夢想成真，自己卻不配擁有那樣的結局。

我害怕和過去的自己說再見，害怕看到自己從未見過的那一面，也害怕承擔成功後的身份轉變。

這種恐懼讓我卻步，寧願留在舒適圈，也不敢梭哈。因為一旦成功，就再也無法用「我還沒盡全力呢！」來保護自己，讓自己有台階下。

美國作家 [Steven Pressfield](https://www.google.com/search?q=Steven+Pressfield) 在《[一生之敵](https://www.books.com.tw/products/CN12009679)》（[The War of Art](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18624273-the-war-of-art)）寫道：

> 我們害怕發現自己比想像中更強大，害怕真的擁有那份天賦、勇氣與毅力，害怕自己真的能駕馭人生、抵達理想的彼岸。因為一旦這一切成真，我們就要和過去熟悉的世界產生距離，甚至成為他人眼中的異類。
>
> We fear discovering that we are more than we think we are. We fear that we actually possess the talent that our still, small voice tells us. That we actually have the guts, the perseverance, the capacity. We fear that we truly can steer our ship, plant our flag, reach our Promised Land. We fear this because, if it’s true, then we become estranged from all we know. We pass through a membrane. We become monsters and monstrous.
