AgentDB is released into the public domain by its author,
Datacules LLC.

Anyone is free to copy, modify, publish, use, compile, sell, or distribute
this software, either in source code form or as a compiled binary, for any
purpose, commercial or non-commercial, and by any means.

In jurisdictions that recognize copyright laws, the author or authors of
AgentDB dedicate any and all copyright interest in the software to the
public domain. We make this dedication for the benefit of the public at
large and to the detriment of our heirs and successors. We intend this
dedication to be an overt act of relinquishment in perpetuity of all
present and future rights to this software under copyright law.

Permissive Fallback License

For jurisdictions where public domain dedication is not legally recognized
or enforceable, Datacules LLC hereby grants every person a worldwide,
royalty-free, non-exclusive, irrevocable license to:

  1. Use AgentDB for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.
  2. Study, copy, and modify the source code.
  3. Redistribute original or modified versions in source or binary form.
  4. Sublicense these rights to third parties.
  5. Embed AgentDB in closed-source or proprietary software without
     disclosure obligations.

No attribution is required. No license file inclusion is required.
No royalties are owed. No notification to Datacules LLC is required.

This fallback license grants the same practical rights as the public
domain dedication above and is provided solely to ensure legal clarity
in all jurisdictions worldwide.


Commercial Licenses (Optional)
==============================

The public domain dedication and fallback license above are always free
and impose no obligations. However, Datacules LLC offers optional
commercial licenses for organizations that require:

  - Legal warranty and indemnification
  - Liability coverage
  - Priority support and SLA guarantees
  - Written contractual assurance of the above rights

Purchasing a commercial license is never required to use AgentDB.
It exists solely for risk-averse enterprises and regulated industries
(aerospace, medical, financial) that require contractual guarantees.

Philosophy
==========

AgentDB follows the licensing philosophy pioneered by SQLite:

  "The best way to make software ubiquitous is to make it legally invisible."

We deliberately avoided GPL, LGPL, Apache, and MIT licenses because even
their small requirements — attribution, license file inclusion — create
friction. Our goal is zero legal friction for every user, everywhere,
forever.
