--- name: al-build-validation description: 'Use when compiling AL projects, selecting a multi-root build target, or resolving conflicting build and editor diagnostics.' --- # AL Build Validation Identify the intended project root and `app.json`. Use the available AL build tool; focus the manifest first when required by that tool. In multi-root workspaces prefer an explicit manifest argument, such as `buildAlPackage(appJsonPath)`, and reject results for another project. Build changed production dependencies before dependent test or upgrade apps. Refresh their package symbols when needed. Report the target manifest, build outcome, errors and warnings; compilation is not runtime test execution. For multi-root selection failures or editor diagnostics contradicting a successful build, read [project identity and diagnostics](./references/project-identity.md). Publishing changes a BC environment. Only publish to an identified target when deployment is part of the authorized task; a configured server alone is not authorization.
