The cave was quarried manually in local chalk

One of the two inscriptions in the cave alongside two wall reliefs. The inscription is located in the western part of the underground facility. The bottom of the last line is 80 cm above the room's present ground level.

The first line of the inscription is 32 cm wide.

Φιλῖνος ὁ νέαξ ἐνθάδε ἐπύγιζζεν Παπίαν τὸν τοῦ Κρατεροπρογόνον

Here Philinos the youth buggered Papias, Krateros' stepson.

The verb πυγίζω appears for the first time in the Levant, being used here in its unadulterated sexual meaning. Progonos can mean either an ancestor or a stepson.
