Ἰουλία Τρωξαλλίς

Julia Grasshopper

Ἰουλία Τρωξαλλίς

Ossuary has low feet and flat lid. Ἰουλία is a transliteration of the Latin name Julia, unrecorded locally though common among Jews abroad, especially in Italy. "Grasshopper" might refer specifically to the deceased, a nickname describing a personal trait, or it might indicate that she belonged to the family Hagav or Hagava, meaning "grasshopper" (attested thus in the early Second Temple period as בני חגב or בני חגבה).
