# Privacy Policy — Meditation Timer & Insights **Effective date:** April 24, 2026 **Developer contact:** AppHux@gmail.com --- ## Summary Meditation Timer is a fully offline app. **No personal data is collected, stored on external servers, or shared with any third party — ever.** All data lives only on your device and is under your full control. --- ## 1. Information We Collect Meditation Timer does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. All data — including your meditation sessions, mood logs, practice settings, and preferences — is stored exclusively on your device in private app storage. Nothing is sent to external servers, third-party analytics platforms, or any other service. --- ## 2. Local Data Storage The following data is stored **locally on your device only**: - Meditation session history (date, duration, mood ratings) - Practice configurations you create - App preferences and settings (timer durations, reminder times, theme choice) - Background music file paths you select from your device This data is held in the app's private SharedPreferences storage and local database. --- ## 3. Data Retention Because all data is stored locally on your device, **you are in full control of how long it is kept.** - Data is retained on your device for as long as you keep the app installed. - No data is ever sent to, or retained by, any external server or the developer. --- ## 4. How to Delete Your Data You can delete your data at any time using the following methods: 1. **Delete individual sessions** — Open the Sessions screen, swipe or long-press a session, and delete it. 2. **Clear all app data** — Go to your device's **Settings → Apps → Meditation Timer → Storage → Clear Data**. This permanently removes all sessions, practices, preferences, and settings. 3. **Uninstall the app** — Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data from your device automatically. There is no account or server-side data to request deletion of, because we never collect or store anything off your device. --- ## 5. Storage & File Access If you choose to use background music, the app requests access to your device's audio files: - **Android 13+:** `READ_MEDIA_AUDIO` permission - **Android 12 and below:** `READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE` permission (scoped to audio) This access is used **solely** to read music files you explicitly select. The app does not scan, index, or upload your files. --- ## 6. Notifications The app may request the `POST_NOTIFICATIONS` permission (Android 13+) to deliver a daily meditation reminder if you enable that feature in Settings. Notifications are generated and delivered entirely on your device — no network calls are made. --- ## 7. Alarms & Reminders The app uses the `SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM` / `USE_EXACT_ALARM` permission to deliver practice reminders at the times you set. This is used solely to trigger local notifications; no data is transmitted. --- ## 8. Third-Party Services The app does **not** use: - Advertising SDKs - Analytics services (e.g. Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel) - Crash-reporting services (e.g. Crashlytics) - Any third-party library that transmits data off your device There are **no trackers, no analytics, and no ads.** --- ## 9. Security All app data is stored in Android's private app sandbox, which prevents other apps from accessing it. We do not transmit any data over a network, so there is no risk of interception in transit. Standard Android OS security protections apply. --- ## 10. Data Export & Import The Sessions screen provides an optional CSV export/import feature. Exported files are saved to a location you choose on your device and are **never uploaded automatically**. You are in full control of any data you export. --- ## 11. External Links — Support ("Buy Me a Coffee") The app contains an optional "Buy Me a Coffee" link that opens the Ko-fi website (ko-fi.com) in your device's browser. This is a voluntary, one-time external link. We do not share any of your app data with Ko-fi. Any information you provide on the Ko-fi website is governed by Ko-fi's own privacy policy. --- ## 12. Children's Privacy The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children. Because all data stays on-device, there is no mechanism by which children's data could be collected or shared. --- ## 13. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA / International Users) Because the app stores all data exclusively on your device and does not transmit any personal information to the developer or any third party: - **EU / EEA users (GDPR):** No personal data is processed by us. Your rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, and portability are exercised through the on-device deletion methods in **Section 4**. - **California users (CCPA):** We do not sell personal information.
