Installing a Permanent Entrypoint (pre-owned title)

We will now install install a permanent entrypoint.

Make sure you have followed the Getting Started page before proceeding.

4swordshax, like ugopwn, cannot run commercial NDS titles from SRLoader at this time.

There is a risk of bricking. Please ensure that all steps are followed correctly, and keep the NAND backup we will create in a safe place.

Section I - Preparing

  1. Insert your system's SD card into your computer.
  2. Copy the contents of twlnf-entrypoint-pack.zip to the root of your SD card.
  3. Remove the SD card from your computer, and insert it into the SD card slot on your DSi.
  4. Power on your DSi, and open Flipnote Studio.
  5. Press "View Flipnote", then "SD Card".
  6. Choose "select folder", then choose "user" instead of "normal".
  7. Open the ugopwn folder.
  8. Click on the note with the red bottom half, then choose "edit".
  9. Once you are on the editing page, click on the flipnote frog icon in the bottom left.
  10. Click on the film roll icon, then choose "copy".
  11. Choose "back", then "exit".
  12. Click on the second note, then choose "edit".
  13. Click on the flipnote frog icon in the bottom left.
  14. Click on the film roll icon.
  15. Click on the single right arrow (the next to last arrow icon) two times. You will see a new frame be created.
  16. Click on the paste button exactly 122 times.
  17. Click the erase button, then the paste button. If twlnf doesn't appear, ensure that booting to Calender mode is disabled in Flipnote Studio's settings.
  18. You are now in twlnf. If prompted, press (A) to create a NAND backup. This will take a few minutes.
  19. When prompted, press (X) to mount the NAND directly. (twlnf does not list this as an option.)

Section II - Installing your Permanent Entrypoint

  1. Navigate to the .nfs script corresponding with your pre-install DSiWare title.
    • Fieldrunners - install_fieldrunhax_usa.nfs
    • Legends of Exidia - install_exidiahax_usa.nfs
    • Guitar Rock Tour - install_grtpwn_usa.nfs
    • The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary - install_4swordshax_usa.nfs
  2. Press (A) to execute your script of choice.
  3. twlnf will now verify that all files are in place. This script will fail if you don't have the DSiWare installed. When prompted, press (A) to continue.
  4. twlnf is now installing your permanent entrypoint. When execution returned 0 appears, the script has finished executing.
  5. Press (SELECT) to quit twlnf, then (A) to confirm. Your DSi will power off.
  6. Power on your DSi, and launch your exploited DSiWare.

Section III - Launching your Permanent Entrypoint

Each of the four entrypoints are triggered in different ways.
  • Fieldrunners - Wait for the game to load. On the main menu, press "Scores".
  • Legends of Exidia - Go past the two start screens. Select the first save file, and press "Continue".
  • Guitar Rock Tour - Scroll down. Press "High Scores", then "Drums", then "Easy".
  • The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary - Launch the game. 4swordshax works immediately, with no user intervention required.
These entrypoints will load whatever homebrew you have on your SD card as boot.nds. Currently, this is twlnf. It is recommended that you install SRLoader, as it can launch both commercial ROMs and homebrew, and has several emulators built in.

You may now run homebrew at any time using your entrypoint of choice.
