# Case Study ## How One Contest Generated $1.5M For Players A case study of the [Avalanche Showdown](https://confetti.win/contest/avalanche/0x5ecbca171a1e03e384d009fc5989bb489f5fcf9a) ### Overview To showcase its ecosystem, the company Avalanche ran a three-week bracket tournament on Confetti. The goal was to give as much attention to each project as well as to Avalanche as a whole. Every day, one project in its ecosystem would face off against another in a showdown, and only the winner would advance. The final round alone generated $1,500,000 to players (value at the time of the contest). If the organizers had elected to take home 5% of volume, they would have earned $75,000 just for running the showdown. ### How it Worked - Three-week bracket tournament with daily one-on-one showdowns - Anyone could back their favorite team, with 90% of funds going into a rewards poo - The earlier players voted, the more they could earn, incentivizing conviction voting - Players split the rewards pool—over $1,500,000—based on their share of votes ### Why It Worked - *Teams used it to build community.* Each team shilled the contest to their community and used it to build their community as well. The organizer didn't need to do all the marketing: the contestants did it for them. - *Bracket format built momentum.* Starting with 16 teams and narrowing each week created buzz and gave opportunities for people to learn about it over time. - *Tribalism drove participation.* Communities themselves advocated for others to vote so that they could win and earn. This drove even more attention. And it meant that even losing teams would earn attention from winning ones. - *Early voters earned more.* Confetti's price curve means early voters can buy votes for cheaper and earn more. This incentivizes conviction voting, as people who believe in a pick early get rewarded the most. But it also incentivizes liquidity, as players start funding the rewards pool early, and higher rewards drive more people to play. ### Try It - Read more at [confetti.win](https://www.confetti.win) - Create your own at [confetti.win/contest/new](https://confetti.win/contest/new)
