# License

Kodus uses a dual-license model:

- **Open-source code (AGPL-3.0):** Source code outside the Enterprise Code is licensed under the [GNU Affero General Public License v3.0](https://www.gnu.org/licenses/agpl-3.0.html).
- **Enterprise Code (Kodus Enterprise Code License):** Files with `.ee.` in the filename or inside an `ee/` directory are governed by the [Kodus Enterprise Code License](./license_ee.md), not AGPL-3.0. That license permits self-hosted Community users to run the unmodified Enterprise Code needed for Community features, including code review and BYOK, internally and in production, within the limits the software enforces. It does not permit Community users to modify the Enterprise Code or use Enterprise-only features. Contributors may fork the repository and modify the Enterprise Code to submit changes back to Kodus.
