# Popover VM run at 499021c0 All nine checks passed after the test setup corrections below. No app defect was reproduced. The run used macOS 27.0.1, build 26A434, in a 1440 × 900 VM on 27 October 2026. The VM has no battery. Appearance and wallpaper stayed as they were. The claim ran from 15:46:20Z to 16:02:41Z. Every UI event and capture ran inside the VM. No MacBook UI or Insomnia configuration was touched, and nothing was posted or pushed. The source was a git archive of `499021c0149795df6d3e3a5003ff979b0db75ab8`, PR #155. The source clone's working tree was left alone. The commit's own `scripts/install.sh` exited 0. The installed CDHash is `7237d8c898e81850a7e1b591190cfcc2e2f8e98b`. The previous config was moved aside before installation. The first launch wrote `menuBarMode: "pills"` and `defaultPreset: 14400`. Popover was selected in Settings > General > Menu bar, and the saved config read `menuBarMode: "popover"`. | Check | Result and counts | Evidence | |---|---|---| | 1. Clicks inside | Pass, 10/10 trials. Five opened from Finder and five from TextEdit. All 20 header and Custom clicks kept the popover open. Each Custom click exposed Hours, and Insomnia stayed in front. | `run.log`, `evidence/c1-*-ax.txt` | | 2. Custom focus | Pass, 2/2 trials, one from each app. Typing 3 without a field click put 3 in Hours, with Hours focused and Start enabled. TextEdit stayed empty. | `evidence/c2-*-ax.txt`, `pictures/02-custom-TextEdit.png` | | 3. Esc | Pass, 2/2 trials from TextEdit. Esc closed the time-buttons view and the Hours-focused view. TextEdit came forward and received k in both trials. | `evidence/c3-*-ax.txt`, `run.log` | | 4. End ring | Pass, 6/6 holds. Five 650 ms holds and one 1500 ms hold each ended a fresh CLI-started 2 h session with no other Insomnia window open. Every hold logged `session end (user)` and `sleep restored`, with SleepDisabled 0. A 90 ms click ended nothing and preserved the end time. | `evidence/c4-*-log.txt`, `evidence/c4-*-events.txt`, `pictures/04-after-long-hold.png`, `pictures/04-after-quick-click.png` | | 5. Arrow | Pass, 2/2 width changes while the popover stayed open. Idle: item centre 1235 pt, popover centre 1235 pt. After CLI start: 1210 and 1210. After CLI end: 1235 and 1235. Measured horizontal error was 0 pt at all three samples. | `evidence/c5-geometry.txt`, `pictures/05-after-start.png`, `pictures/05-after-end.png` | | 6. Command-Tab | Pass, 3/3 trials with TextEdit explicitly selected in the switcher. The popover closed about 0.54 s after TextEdit came forward with the pointer on the item, 0.53 s on the popover, and 0.04 s elsewhere. TextEdit retained focus and received k in all three. See the setup correction below. | `evidence/c6-target-*-watch.txt`, `evidence/c6-target-*-events.txt`, `run.log` | | 7. Quick cycles | Pass, 12/12 sequences, 42 item clicks. Each nominal 150, 300 and 500 ms gap ran twice with three clicks and twice with four. All six three-click sequences left the popover open, Insomnia in front, and Custom then 3 filled Hours. All six four-click sequences left it closed with TextEdit in front, and k reached TextEdit. | `evidence/c7-*-events.txt`, `evidence/c7-*-ax.txt`, `pictures/07-three-clicks-custom.png` | | 8. Idle rows | Pass, one opening sampled immediately and 11 s later. The rows read Lid open, Hotspot failover off, and Wi-Fi On. There is no battery row. The power source reports AC Power and no battery. Settings and Quit are present. | `evidence/c8-*-ax.txt`, `evidence/c8-power.txt`, `pictures/08-idle-rows.png` | | 9. Other styles | Pass, 3/3 left-click checks and 3/3 right-click menu checks after one Pills retry. Pills opened its duration pills, width 34 to 228 pt. Compact opened its duration panel. Minimal started the default 14400 s session with SleepDisabled 1. Each right-click menu included Settings and Quit. The Minimal session ended with SleepDisabled 0. | `evidence/c9-*`, `pictures/09-pills-left.png`, `pictures/09-minimal-started.png` | No product finding remains. The idle battery-row omission is the observed behavior on this VM, not a battery reading of zero. The first Command-Tab attempts selected Finder. This also happened with the popover closed, starting from TextEdit, so the expected TextEdit focus assertion did not describe the selected switcher target. All six initial attempts, three HID and three System Events attempts, closed the popover and left Finder in front. The three valid trials held Command and tapped Tab twice to select TextEdit. The watcher then observed TextEdit activation and popover closure separately. Its activation watcher runs the event loop; the earlier watcher cached its initial front-app name and is not used for timing. The first Pills right-click had no menu. A geometry probe showed that the folding item changed width before macOS finished moving it. The retry waited for both width and position to settle and used the existing VM click helper. The menu opened. This supports a click-target timing problem in the script. The original attempt and the retry are retained in `run.log` and `evidence/c9-Pills-*`. TextEdit's direct Automation permission prompt was declined. The tests then used app activation, posted keys and Accessibility reads instead of direct TextEdit Apple events. An initial front-app helper returned an empty value on this OS. It was replaced before all counted trials. The diagnostic screen capture is retained under `rejected/` and is not intended for a PR. All input was synthetic. No physical mouse or keyboard trial, display sleep, Space switch, alternate display, Reduce Motion, or battery-powered behavior was tested. The switch timings use 10 ms polling plus window-list and event-loop overhead, so they are approximate. App log timestamps have whole-second precision. Requested 650 ms holds measured 653 to 655 ms; the 1500 ms hold measured 1506 ms. The nominal 150, 300 and 500 ms click intervals measured 150 to 158, 300 to 310, and 506 to 513 ms respectively. Screenshots use only Insomnia's status item and its own popover capture, with the rest transparent. Every listed picture was visually reviewed. `report.md`, `run.log`, the sanitized `evidence/` files and `pictures/` contain no VM account, password, host name or address. `scripts/`, `scratch/` and `rejected/` are working material, not PR attachments. Cleanup passed at 16:01:50Z. Insomnia is quit, config.json matches the first-launch defaults exactly, no session.json exists, and SleepDisabled is 0. TextEdit has no document windows and is quit; both unsaved documents were closed without saving. The VM /tmp entry set gained nothing. No VM was started, stopped, cloned or deleted. The claim was released at 16:02:41Z. The tested commit remains installed.
