The Printer communication point enables the printing of plain text and PostScript (PS) documents. In order to locate network printers, the Rhapsody service must log on to the system as a user with sufficient privileges to use the print services. Printers must then be installed for that user to allow Rhapsody to include them in its list of known printers.

During installation, it is possible to choose an existing user to log on to the system. If the service has already been installed, the user can be changed (under Windows®) by opening the service control panel applet and navigating to the properties of the service. Since the Printer communication point uses the operating system and printers' printing capabilities, only documents supported natively can be printed; for example, the direct printing of PDF is not supported.
