Abaton Terms of Use

1. Acceptance
By downloading, installing, or using Abaton (“the app”), you agree to this Terms of Use (“Terms”).

If you do not agree, stop using the app and uninstall it.

2. Service description
Abaton is an on-device privacy tool that provides:

• Encrypted storage for photos, videos, and recordings
• Encrypted notes
• Optional disguise entry (calculator, timer, calendar)
• Dual-vault privacy model
• Backup & device transfer (.enc filename, zip inside; optional iCloud container on iOS)

There is no cloud sync service; day-to-day data stays on your device unless you export or back up it yourself.

**What backups contain:** Backup & transfer files use a .enc extension with a zip payload and **only** include vault media (photos, videos, recordings) and notes. They **do not** include unlock passcodes, Keychain/Keystore credentials, app settings, UI preferences, or local subscription/purchase flags. Vault files remain in the app’s encrypted format inside the archive; whether you can open them depends on whether your device passcodes still match those used when the backup was made. Paid entitlements follow your store account and platform transactions—use Restore purchases after reinstall or device changes. See the Privacy Policy section on backup & transfer for details.

3. Subscriptions and purchases
Paid options may include:

• Yearly VIP: auto-renewing subscription
• Lifetime Pro: one-time purchase

Subscription terms:
• Billing is through your Apple ID or Google account
• Renewal occurs within 24 hours before the period ends unless auto-renew is off
• Manage or cancel in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions or Google Play Subscriptions
• After cancellation, access continues until the paid period ends
• If a free trial is offered, it may convert to a paid plan unless cancelled in time

Entitlements and your store account:
• The app reflects and checks purchases using information from the App Store / Google Play on your device; there is no developer-hosted billing server.
• Whether a subscription or a one-time purchase remains valid is determined by your Apple ID / Google account transactions. If on-device status disagrees with the store, use Restore purchases in the membership screen and check network connectivity and store sign-in.
• If the store temporarily returns no transactions, the app may retry synchronization later as designed; store records remain authoritative.
• Refunds and subscription status changes follow platform rules; the app may update on-device display when it can query the store.

Refunds are handled solely by Apple / Google under their policies.

4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:

• Store or distribute illegal content
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
• Circumvent security or encryption
• Use the app for unlawful purposes

You are responsible for all content you store.

5. Intellectual property
The app and its materials (code, UI, icons, text) are owned by the developer.

You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on your personal devices.

6. Data and passcode responsibility
Important:

• Encryption is local; the developer cannot access, recover, or reset your passcode
• If you forget your passcode, encrypted content cannot be recovered; remember it and export .enc backups via Backup & transfer regularly
• Uninstalling permanently deletes local data

The developer is not liable for loss due to forgotten passcodes or device failure.

7. Disclaimer
The app is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted or error-free operation, or absolute cryptographic security against all attacks.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for indirect or consequential damages.

8. Changes and termination
• The developer may modify, suspend, or discontinue the app or features
• Violation of these Terms may end your right to use the app
• Upon termination, stop using the app and remove it from your device

9. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms. The in-app copy will be updated; continued use means acceptance.

Material changes may be highlighted in the app.

10. Governing law
For users in mainland China, these Terms are governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China. Disputes should first be resolved through negotiation; if that fails, courts with jurisdiction may hear the case.

If you use the app elsewhere, mandatory consumer protections of your country may still apply.
