--- name: geo-optimization description: Make product and content pages easy for people and answer engines to understand, extract, verify, compare, and cite without treating GEO as a ranking hack. --- # GEO / Answer-Engine Optimization Start from a user question, product fact, and evidence source. GEO is a content and information-quality layer on top of sound SEO, not a substitute for it. ## Survey 1. Build a question set from customer research, search queries, support, communities, comparisons, and buying objections. 2. Identify which existing pages answer each question and where competitors or third-party sources currently provide stronger evidence. 3. Classify gaps: missing answer, vague answer, unsupported claim, stale fact, weak comparison, poor source clarity, or inaccessible content. ## Implement - put direct, useful answers near the relevant question without writing for robots; - use descriptive headings, definitions, examples, tables, steps, constraints, and comparisons when they genuinely improve comprehension; - attach important claims to first-party evidence or reliable external sources; - keep product facts, pricing, availability, limitations, and docs consistent across pages; - expose useful textual content even when the UI is highly visual; - create comparison, alternative, integration, use-case, FAQ, docs, or research pages only when the product has real information to add; - treat `llms.txt`, agent-readable bundles, or other machine-readable files as optional experiments, never as required for Google AI features or as guaranteed citation levers. ## Quality gate Before publishing, verify factuality, freshness, source support, page intent, indexability, visible-text consistency, and whether the page adds information beyond generic synthesis. ## Measurement Pair search metrics with `ai-visibility` and downstream qualified visits, activation, revenue, or the agreed business outcome. A mention without business value is not success.
