# Install Lumtera Pro

Lumtera Pro is an add-on. It's sold at MantraBrain, not on WordPress.org, and the free Lumtera plugin must stay installed and active. Your results, settings and checks carry over: nothing needs moving.

## Before you start

- WordPress 6.6 or later, and PHP 8.1 or later
- The free Lumtera plugin, version 1.2.1 or newer, active. Lumtera 1.3.0 or newer is recommended: with it, a visitor's page loads 5 of Pro's PHP files instead of 84.
- Your license key and the `lumtera-pro.zip` file, both in your [MantraBrain account](https://store.mantrabrain.com/account/). The key is also in your purchase email.

## Install and activate

  <li>Install and activate the free <strong>Lumtera</strong> plugin, if you haven't. See <a :href="withBase('/installation')">Installation</a>.</li>
  <li>Go to <span class="screen-path">Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin</span>, choose <code>lumtera-pro.zip</code>, and click <strong>Install Now</strong>, then <strong>Activate</strong>.</li>
  <li>Go to <span class="screen-path">Lumtera → Settings → License</span>, paste your key and click <strong>Save &amp; activate</strong>. You can also use the <strong>License key</strong> field on any Pro screen.</li>
  <li>Follow the <a :href="withBase('/pro/license#first-run-checklist')">first-run checklist</a> for your plan, on the Overview and the License screen.</li>

Once the license is active, the free plugin's **Upgrade to Pro** screen, buttons and tips go away.

## On a multisite network

For one license across a network, you need the Agency or Unlimited plan and Pro network-activated. See [One license for the network](/pro/multisite#one-license-for-the-network).

## Updates

Updates arrive through the normal <span class="screen-path">Plugins</span> screen while your license is active, with a changelog in **View details**. If a yearly license expires, Pro keeps working on the sites where it's active. Only updates and support stop until you renew.

A database update may run the first time a new version loads. It runs once and keeps your data. Version 1.2.0 adds per-page score history this way.
