# Privacy policy — Stanza Clock

This policy applies to the **Stanza Clock** Chrome extension by Markus Van Kempen.

Stanza Clock shows the current time as a word clock on the new tab page. It does not require an account and it does not talk to a developer-operated server.

## What we collect

**The developer does not collect, sell, or receive your personal data.**

The extension does not send telemetry, analytics, crash reports, or advertising identifiers. It does not read your browsing history, cookies, or the content of other websites.

## Settings stored on your device

The only permission requested is **`storage`**.

Stanza Clock saves your clock preferences locally (and in [Chrome Sync](https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/185277) if you have sync turned on):

- letter plate and language
- colours, brightness, motion effects, and display mode
- speaking-clock voice and schedule
- new-tab size, timezone, and night-dim schedule
- other display toggles (phrase, grid, invert, and similar)

Those values never leave your browser except through **Google Chrome Sync**, which you control in Chrome’s own settings. The developer cannot see them.

## Speaking clock audio

When you enable the speaking clock, the extension plays **bundled audio files** (British Amy MP3s and German Zeitansage WAVs) or the browser’s built-in speech engine for the computer voice. Playback is entirely local — no audio is uploaded or streamed to a server.

## What we do not do

- No accounts or sign-in
- No ads
- No remote code
- No network requests for time, weather, updates, or speaking-clock clips
- No host permissions
- Time comes from the clock already on your computer

## Links

The About screen includes optional links to the extension homepage, a portfolio site, GitHub, and LinkedIn. Those open only if you click them. They are ordinary websites and are not part of this extension’s data handling.

## Children

The extension is a clock. It is not directed at children and it does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

## Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will be updated. The current version lives at:
