# Autism crisis communication cards Free, printable communication cards for moments when an autistic or otherwise neurodivergent person is overloaded and speaking becomes difficult. The cards use short, direct language. They do not assume that the person is having a panic attack, and they do not promise that an environment is safe. Each sentence communicates one immediate need. ## Print or use on a phone - [English communication card](cards/en.html) - [Nederlandse communicatiekaart](cards/nl.html) - [English phrases as JSON](data/phrases.en.json) - [Nederlandse zinnen als JSON](data/phrases.nl.json) Open an HTML card in a browser and choose **Print**. The layout also works as a phone screen that can be shown to someone nearby. For an interactive low-stimulation flow, use [Crisis Mode for sensory overload](https://www.maskedbutaware.nl/en/tools/crisis-mode). The [Dutch Crisis Modus](https://www.maskedbutaware.nl/tools/crisis-modus) is available separately. ## What the cards communicate The included phrases cover needs such as temporary silence, lower sensory input, physical space and postponing a decision. Edit the HTML or JSON when different wording fits better. A personal phrase that is familiar before overload is often easier to use in the moment. ## Intended use These resources offer communication support. They are not a diagnostic instrument, treatment or emergency service. Contact the appropriate local emergency service if someone is in immediate danger. ## Reuse The code and templates are available under the [MIT License](LICENSE).
