My husband, a long-time member of CAMRA, took his daughter and me out last Saturday for what we anticipated would be lunch in a pleasant country pub. The Good Beer Guide gave a description of the pub as having two bars and a conservatory, and I remembered there being a garden as well from a visit many years ago. The range of beers and cider on offer was impressive, but the hostility we encountered on entry was incredible - simply because we had a seven year old with us. Not only were we banned from the bars with her (fair enough) but we were not allowed into the garden or conservatory either. She and I even had to go outside to choose our meal - outside to a couple of tables adjacent to the main road and car park. We shall not be returning.
