Is about a five minute walk for me although I had never being in here before, saw the sign for 'cask ales' though and decided to give it a go being a student area not many pubs tend to offer cask beers. The Pub is a Greene King pub, when asked normal range is Oldie Trip, Greene King IPA, and Old Speckled Hen (all Greene King beers), the celebration ale being in place of the normal Old Speckled hen. The Alepril Fool one is a seasonal beer and changes monthly. Pub itself is relatively 'corporate', with most of the focus being on the 'restaurant', the food itself is average although nothing spectacular, had the rump steak, and chips at £4.99 so fairly reasonably priced. Range of cask ales not too bad for the area, I opted for a pint of the Alepril Fool, and a second pint of the Oldie Trip. Both had good heads on them and taste was acceptable staff clearly knew how to pull a pint, and where helpful and friendly. Also had the standard range of keg larger and cider (Strong bow, Fosters, Carling etc) although I have no intention of sampling them I'm sure they are identical to keg beer served in any other pub. Basically I will be going again as its the nearest pub to me that serves cask ales, it is pleasant enough, if a little corporate, and is about what you would expect from a Greene King pub.
