Visits for Crown Inn

Add a visit

Listing the range of beers available at The Crown is pointless as the selection across the 16 handpumps will be different on every visit. Ten minutes' walk from Stockport rail station, even closer to the bus station, it is open from noon daily, and these good transport links, along with the excellent beer selection and friendly welcome, explain why it attracts customers from all over. The term 'real ale haven' could have been invented for this pub, but the clientele is much broader than stereotypical 'beer bores', and at lunchtimes it is gaining a growing following among office and town centre workers. Four drinking areas off a main bar, pool table and juke box, plus outside smoking/occasional live music area. Real fires in front room on right as you enter, and in room at back of bar. Dogs welcome if you speak to the bar staff first (there is a resident pub pup, who frequently makes his presence heard!) Pub has benefited from a thorough spruce-up in the past 12 months, although the interior remains reassuringly unchanged. Numerous accolades from CAMRA include Greater Manchester Pub of the Year 2008. No extended hours at night - this isn't that sort of pub - and regulars are a friendly crowd who like their pub kept that way. Daytime parking available in multi-storey less than 5 minutes' walk away on Heaton Lane. Pub is two minutes off the M60 motorway at junction 1 - follow signs for Stockport Town Centre A5145 then take 2nd exit at next roundabout.
