This is an extraordinary Gastro-Pub situated just off and above the historic quay area of Exeter in Devon. An old building that has kept much of its original decor, charm and atmosphere. Good Real Ale and Cider and a superb selection of spirits from rare Rums through to Absinthe. A real gem and a must for ALL those serious about the quality rather than the quantity of their alcohol.

My most recent visit to the Hour Glass was on the 11th May 2011. Three Real Ales were available; the house Ale OTTER BITTER and two quests EXETER FERRYMAN and SUMMER LIGHTENING. All were in excellent condition. Three good ciders were also available, SYMONDS, BURROW HILL and THATCHERS GOLD. The range of a particular favourite drink of mine, Rum, is really excellent and a spirits book is also available from the bar which lists an enormous range from Vodka to Pastis. The Menu, staff and even the loo's are all first class. I happily look forward to my next visit.
