Teignmouth's oldest Pub occupies a fantastic position facing the beautiful Teign estuary. There has been a drinking establishment on the site since at least 1132. One of the very few buildings to survive both the French attack on the town in the 1690's and Norman Wisdom's 1966 film 'Pressed for Time', todays Jolly Sailor is run by Kevin Robins and his two sons, Joe and Sam. Renowned throughout South Devon for its excellent range of pub food and as a live music venue with Jazz on a Monday evening, Open Mic sessions on a Friday evening and yet more music on the first Sunday of the month. A further attraction will be a local Real ale festival to be held on the first weekend of October 2010. Oh and the Jolly Sailor has a friendly pub dog called 'Lucy'

I happily paid a visit to this charming old pub on the afternoon of the 24th August 2010. As usual the welcome was warm, the food excellent and both the Real Ales on draught, DOOMBAR and DARK NESS were in excellent condition. I can think of few pubs better to spend an evening in good company. Thoroughly recommended.
