Up until the mid 1980's the Royal Navy cleaned nuclear submarines here. Now the Ship & Trades sits at the centre of a major redevelopment of the former Chatham Naval Dockyard.
This is modern Shepherd Neame offering, laid out over two floors and with plenty of seating outside overlooking the water. Food served all day and it's family friendly, which is good news for those living on nearby St. Mary's Island as it's their only pub.
Don't get too excited about the nine pumps, there'll probably be only three Shep beers between them.
All in all a nice place to spend a couple of hours after visiting the nearby Historic Dockyard, Dickens World or the Dockside factory outlet centre, especially when the sun's out.
